Texas judge blocks Greg Abbott's transgender investigation order, for now

A Texas judge on Wednesday temporarily halted Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s administration from pursuing one state investigation into the use of gender-affirming procedures on a child, but did not yet halt the practice statewide.

The decision from an Austin-based judge arrived the day after civil rights groups joined the family of a transgender girl to sue Abbott and the state’s child protection agency to halt an order that’s prompted scorn from medical groups, local prosecutors and the White House.

Travis County District Judge Amy Clark Meachum granted a temporary restraining order to pause that investigation and will convene a March 11 hearing to hear arguments over the broader fate of Abbott’s orders.

“The elected leaders and agencies of this state should not play politics with people’s lives,” ACLU of Texas attorney Brian Klosterboer said in a statement after the ruling. “We will do all that’s possible to stop these abuses of power and ensure transgender young people can receive medically recommended treatment.”

I wasn't sure if juxtaposition between Republicans and scum was worthwhile, but I looked up the definition and I can't find any real purpose of scum. So I think there could be some similarities here, but I understand nuances could exist. Haha.

But rest assured going after trans kids is the first step. If they somehow succeed in this, then guess what? LGB are next. Tear families apart. Family values my ever loving ass. That's just a catch phrase to as you rightly state to mean "white and Christian".

In the end it's not Greg Abbott's business how families parent and support their children.

Basically Republicans want to remove schools right to teach accurate history under the guise of "let parents decide" then rip the child from the parent if the child doesn't conform to what Republicans consider "normal".

22. I don't recall if it was in the latter half of 2020 or in 2021...

After all, all the days and weeks and months just blend together since March 2020. Anyway, a number of counter-protesters showed up to a BLM rally. Were they there to speak out against BLM? To whitesplain rightfully-angry blacks? Nope. They showed up so they could shout and chant "KILL TRANSGENDERS"

This is a good chunk of America. It's always been that way, but damn, did it ever get seriously worse when "LGBT ally" Tronald Dump rode down the escalator in 2015.

This is exactly what this is about for them. Go after "wedge" stuff, like sports or restrooms. Then go a step further, and start going after people trying to transition or do HRT - teens first, adults next. Then try to break up families. Then... Who knows? All the while, the goal is to dehumanize trans people, and get them harmed or killed.

Anytime these fascists spew bigoted propaganda, or get bigoted laws/ballot initiatives passed, hate crimes increase. They see we're not entitled to same rights they enjoy (which are no longer rights at that, but privileges), see us as less than human and.... the attacks begin.

This is why they cannot be given an inch on things like this. Because it always goes beyond an inch. Always.

It was already the LGB's turn in the late 90's and early part of this century. But after loss after loss, they backed off there and started in on the trans community with a vengeance. I imagine, should they succeed, it will be the LGB community's turn again - and it will be even nastier than the last time.

The hate and cruelty is the point.

But you're right. "Family values" is an empty phrase and lie. Just like "the party of small government" and "the party of personal freedom". The only families they care about are white and 100% cishet. Rights and freedom are only for white straight cishet males - preferably the ones with money and are Christian. The rest of us? We get the full weight of their hatred and tyranny upon us.
