Lviv Commander: We Need Air Defenses From Israel, Not Goodwill Statements

Source: Atlanta Jewish Times

Ukraine needs Israeli weapons far more than it needs sympathetic statements from Jerusalem, a top official in western Ukraine said Thursday, joining the country’s leadership in urging Jerusalem to help arm their embattled military.

The comments from Kozytskyy, who also heads the province’s military administration during wartime, came as the national leadership in Kyiv has increasingly pressed a reluctant Israel to offer defensive equipment, along with other Western nations. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who sees maintaining ties with Moscow as a strategic interest, has refused repeated requests.

Sitting in his expansive office in a green military fleece, the 41-year-old former solar energy entrepreneur said Ukraine was particularly interested at air defense systems like Iron Dome.

“If we had the same opportunity that Israel does, these air defense systems, we would have prevailed in the air,” he stressed. “We would like to address the government of Israel to help us with such air defense systems.”

That they would save “Israeli lives… and Palestinian lives too indirectly”

Let’s have some “purely peaceful” systems.

over humanitarian corridors. Something like this would help ensure that Russians don't violate any ceasefire.

that Israel is trying to play both sides of the street? The strength of their being an ally to the West may be somewhat conditional based on geographic region. Strong in the Middle East where they face a very close direct threat but maybe less so further away in Europe.

first, last and always. Most of the time that coincides with western or European inserests, but not 100% of the time.

It's not good or bad, it is just the way it is.

and that is why I posted. Sometimes we forget about the impacts things like historical ties/geography when looking through our lens that views the world. So I wanted people to think about whether Israel is considering more than one tie. I don't excuse them if they fail to stand with democracy, the West, provide aid etc. but they may need to make their way to the dance on a circuitous route.

EVERYONE should be sending whatever to UKR. And the Saudis & OPEC should be pumping more oil.
Everyone needs to see that the Russians aren't as vaunted as they were thought to be. The only reason they've made the progress they have in UKR at ALL is because of sheer numbers. It certainly isn't equipment & skill
