Two Republican senators are facing criticism after tweeting photos of a video call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy even though participating lawmakers were told to not share pictures on social media while it was in progress.
Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Steve Daines of Montana posted pictures of Zelenskyy on their Twitter accounts during the Zoom meeting Saturday morning, writing that they were on a call with him.
Democratic Reps. Dean Phillips of Minnesota and Jason Crow of Colorado criticized the senators on Twitter.
Phillips noted that the "Ukrainian ambassador very intentionally asked each of us on the Zoom to NOT share anything on social media during the meeting to protect the security of President Zelenskyy."

(10,162 posts)(Politico) - "Marco Rubio is tweeting through the Russia-Ukraine war -- for a reason"
"As Russian troops invaded Ukraine last week, Marco Rubio was live-tweeting what looked like detailed intelligence.
"The Florida senator and outspoken national-security hawk is part of the 'Gang of Eight': members of Congress who get access to the most sensitive classified intelligence information. That elite status often prompts lawmakers in the group to clam up during moments of global conflict, out of a desire to safeguard sources, methods and U.S. personnel.
"Rubio one of only a few lawmakers who personally tweet from their own accounts has done exactly the opposite. As Russias attack unfolded, he became a one-man intelligence crowdsourcer.
"Its a highly unusual display of transparency from a senior senator on the Intelligence Committee who gets regular, bipartisan briefings on high-level U.S. assessments. But Rubio is comfortable parsing Russias war in public, saying he isnt revealing anything classified or sensitive, even as critics slam his tweets as irresponsible and unverified.
"Rubios frequent and uncensored updates on Russias Ukraine invasion have led some to question whether hes revealed closely held U.S. intelligence information. Others are more befuddled by his musings: 'We dont need your play-by-play. Who are you? John Madden?' Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, quipped to Rubio on Twitter."

So very shameful, but not surprising, that Daines is one of the senators putting Zelensky's security at risk.
Here's a Rachel Maddow article and segment with Michael McFaul about that 2018 trip to Russia:

(9,953 posts)... it's more than "criticism" they face. The Senate should issue some kind of warning to the ignorant pair and make sure they are removed from any Committee where such blunders could put the US or its allies at risk.

(317 posts)demonstrably has Sens with "Rep envy" and have found a way to try to one-up them.
They should all be expelled from Congress.
Serious question:
Wasn't that briefing considered "secret-access" (at the very least) in its clearance status? If so, was sharing images from it a violation of those Senators' security clearances?

(149 posts)Rubio was caught robbing the Florida legislature by paying for family vacation expenses with his legislative credit card.
This alone proves he is a moron at best and most certainly a common criminal.
No surprise he ignores the safety of Zelensky. Marco's orange bedbug boss Trump gave Russia classified info while in the Oval office.
Makes me rethink my stance against capital punishment. Guess I'll go buy a pitchfork.
