Volker says Russian invasion won't end with negotiations

Kurt Volker, former U.S. envoy to Ukraine, said on Sunday that the Russian invasion will not end through negotiations, adding that Russian President Vladimir Putin is "bent" on destroying the country.

"Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan asked Volker on CBS if he could see any countries being able to negotiate an end to Russia's attack on Ukraine.

"Not at all. No, we have to understand that Putin is bent on a military victory. He wants to destroy Ukraine, decapitate the leadership. He doesn't care about how many casualties this causes, what happens to the civilian population. This is a messianic mission that he is on. This is why he has to be stopped," said Volker.

Volker also called for the U.S. to provide A-10 aircraft to Ukraine, noting that Ukrainian pilots are trained to use the jets.

4. Also, the UN needs to kick Russia out of the Security Council...

the UN charter states that it is the USSR that sits on the SC, not Russia, and the former USSR is now divided and at war with itself, so this no longer makes any sense. The UN might then (China willing or abstaining) send in defensive and peacekeeping anti-aircraft and anti-missile systems to protect refugee corridors and safe areas for humanitarian reasons. This would represent the entire world taking these actions, not just US led NATO, or the EU. Also, Russia has clearly demonstrated that it cannot be trusted when it agrees to a cease fire in these areas.

7. Don't know much about warplanes, but this doesn't seem like a good air-to-air candidate

Wouldn't we want to supply allies with aircraft that can engage and knock enemy bombers and fighters out of the air?

He's pretty much cluttered the transportation routes with dead convoys and bodies - perhaps intentionally.

As the Ukrainians get more and better weaponry its going to get WORSE for him the further into cities they get. At some point those troops are going to fall apart IMO

But, this aircraft can handle any and all obstacles on the ground! For instance, it could take out that 40 mile long convoy waiting to kill Kiev. It can take on tanks! It can fly low level, loiter, and has lethal weaponry.
