"No progress" toward cease-fire in high-level Russia-Ukraine talks after Russia accused of bombing
Source: CBS News
Antalya, Turkey Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba met Thursday in Turkey in the first such high-level contact since Moscow invaded its neighbor. Speaking after the talks, Kuleba told reporters there was "no progress" toward a cease-fire.
"We also talked on the cease-fire but no progress was accomplished on that," Dmytro Kuleba said, describing the discussion as "difficult" and accusing his counterpart of bringing little more than "traditional narratives" to the table.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said earlier he was also heading to Antalya for meetings amid mounting concern over the safety of Ukraine's nuclear energy plants, but it was unclear when he was due to arrive or who he might meet with.
Even before the talks began, analysts feared there were slim chances of any breakthrough. Images of the meeting showed the Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian delegations sitting around a table, with each minister accompanied by just two other officials.

(7,611 posts)We are going to have to resupply Kyiv in a week. Allied trucks are going to have to drive into Ukraine. They will need air cover.
President Zelenski said it yesterday: For how long will the West stand by and do nothing?

(12,369 posts)when in reality, as I have pointed out numerous times, it's a CAP, Combat Air Patrol, because it would require shooting down Russian warplanes, a no fly zone can encompass many differing scenarios, like closing down the airspace over International Airports, when a country's leader is in a certain area, etc.
Again, the proper term is CAP, and I 100% oppose a CAP over Ukraine, it will lead to open combat with Russian forces and it's my opinion that Pres. Biden is doing a great job so far, so let the sanctions bite even harder.
His so called vaunted Army is turning out to be a fucking paper tiger that can't even over run a country like Ukraine, his intelligence sucks, etc.
Patience grasshopper, patience, good things come to those that have the wisdom to wait.

Unless you've been there, done that, you have no fucking clue about war and all the horrors that go with it.

(12,369 posts)Daddy Vladdy can't do just anything, any use of NBC against Ukraine, or any incursion into NATO territory will elicit a very violent response from NATO and at that point, I would support military intervention, but until such time happens, I'm all in favor of what Pres. Biden and the vast majority of the world are doing.
So, riddle me this, you think you know more than Pres. Biden? The JCoS? Other world leaders? Our intelligence agencies like the CIA, DIA, NSA?

In the 60s I remember hiding under my desk at school because of the russians!
I don't know the solution but I hate all russians. This man puketin has 70% support of his people. I am done with them.

Diplomatic efforts are wasted on him. He will use any further attempts at negotiation to delay outside responses to his actions.
