Russian central bank decides not to reopen stock market trading next week

Russia's central bank on Saturday said it has decided not to reopen stock market trading on the Moscow Exchange from March 14-18, with the exception of some non-open-market transactions an transactions using the SPFI payment system.

It said the foreign exchange market, money market and repo market would open at 0700 GMT on those days. The bank said it would announce the operating mode for the following week at a later date.

I can't imagine what I would be thinking if my money was lost in a closed system with no guarantee I'd ever be able to get it back out.

Why bother?

The "state" will just declare the shares null and void and allow the companies to recapitalize in a new stock market structure.

is in shambles....who is the bank going to trade with there ruble is worthless......if the Ukraine can hold out for at least three more weeks .....Puss head is done.......in my opinion......

Just to a select segment of the gullible and fluid class.

Stock markets represent nothing more than an investment vehicle for those with enough money to gamble. You own nothing. You control nothing. Your shares mean nothing.

Even here. 1929 proved that.

Their markets were no where near as integrated into retirement plans as ours.

Their markets were always speculative investments, not unlike crypto. It will mstly just be met with shrugs.

But it will hurt the upper middles and uppers....... Though not fatally for most.
