Tom Brady changes course, announces he will return to Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 2022 NFL season
Source: Washington Post
Quarterback Tom Bradys retirement from the NFL lasted a little more than a month. The seven-time Super Bowl winner announced Sunday that he will continue playing and return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season.
These past two months Ive realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands, Brady wrote on Twitter. That time will come. But its not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. Im coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.

Sheesh - another guy like trump - just doesnt know when to quit.
Its not possible to be less interested in football than I am. All I see is organized brutality.

(3,488 posts)The league doesnt seem right without Brady in it. And obviously he can still play at the highest level.
I almost feel bad for the guy who just bought his final touchdown ball for an obscene amount of money. Almost.

I wonder where that money went? Probably to tfg's campaign (just kidding).

(9,126 posts)Brady's had a handful of concussions in his career. Why doesn't he just enjoy his record-breaking achievements, hundreds of millions of dollars, and supermodel spouse, instead of feeding his ego?
When the drop off comes for athletes of Brady's age, it is usually precipitous. I wouldn't be surprised if this will be the season he shouldn't have come back for.

The Patriots still held his rights, but (presumably) Brady talked Tampa Bay into making a trade to acquire him.

(31,961 posts)I doubt you watch football. Brady led the league in touchdown passes. I'll bet every other quarterback would like to not "play that good". No Super but a quarterback can't do all by himself. I keep politics out of entertainment and sports. If you want politics to rule your life in every respect that is your business.

(1,910 posts)Spending time with the family he said. Like I said then, that sounds good but is not reality. His wife has her schedule. Kids that age have their friends, video games, social media. None of the family is going to change their schedule for him. He likely realized after 2 days that the family was not going to alter their schedule to fit extra time in with him. Going from the guy the sports media talks about to just another former athlete is not good for the ego either.

(9,949 posts)... seems like a case of Lucille Ball-itas. For many years, Lucy told CBS she was going to retire after the current TV season. Fortunately, CBS discovered a cure for Lucille Ball-itas.

(1,797 posts)I don't care how protected he is when he plays (or how good) - at this stage of the game he's going to be playing on borrowed time. Instead of going out at the top of his game and covered with laurels (I speak purely of his sports career), he's gonna get a serious case of the dwindles, but he.can't.stop because nothing gives you that same high. Ali did the same thing.
