Republicans line up behind Liz Cheney as she takes on Trump
Source: CNN
CNN) Bobbie and Bill Kilberg were expecting a few dozen people for their fundraiser Monday for GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, an intimate cocktail party they were planning at their home in McLean, Virginia.
But in the weeks since the Republican National Committee voted to censure Cheney for her involvement in the ongoing House select committee investigation of the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, the couple was flooded with requests to come and meet the congresswoman and the event's special guest, Utah GOP Sen. Mitt Romney.
So many people RSVP'd yes that Monday's event was moved to another, larger venue. The Kilbergs finally had to cap the list of co-hosts when it hit 75.

But she sat with him 4 years while he tore the country apart.

They are always happy to support increased military budgets, too.
I fully support any aid we can give to Ukraine. I am glad that we are doing it. I'm pretty sure that Republicans are even happier about it than I am, for different reasons than mine.

These guys are just trying to get themselves into another tube.
But, shit is shit, no-matter what kind of tube you put it in.
The problem is that most 21st century Republicans don't mind that they are brushing their teeth with shit as long as they can stay in power.

Not ONE time in my life have I thought LC would run until reading this article. Yeah, she might but sadly I think the orange shat gibbon would rout her. That SAID, her last name is Cheney so she emits a certain amount of slime when she walks. Gets it from her Daddy. Lastly, the Repukes would never nominate a woman for President, at least not in my lifetime IMO.

But give me Liz Cheney over most of the rest of the party, who still refuse to stand up to Trump.

(11,425 posts)She was raised there. Back before he was VP in the 80's he was living in McLean while congressman near DC but from Wyoming. My rich republican cousins lived next door to them and were friends at the time. My cousin was on the board of Mobil Oil and knew him from the neighborhood and that.
So I am sure from all their years there they have close friends that go way back. Cheney retired in Wyoming and lives in Jacksonhole.

He golfs. Unless a stray bullet from nearby hunters makes it's way onto the golf course, he's not likely to have a hunting accident...but his spawn are another story.

Cheney wants what we want: the fascists the hell out of Washington.
If that mission is accomplished, we will again head to opposite sides of the room and commence our standard battles.
I'm cool with that. The enemy known as Trump/Russia is far more dangerous existentially to the USA than the grumpy, mean old Republicans who are shit but not Trump shit.
And Cheney is a better toilet brush than anything we could have mustered.

(1 post)My guess is that she might be looking to be Pence's VP in 2024. I always have and always will vote my conscience which for me means I'd never vote for a Republican. That being said, both Pence and Cheney have made some good decisions in the face of the endless hatred that motivates the Republican base.
