Idaho House passes Texas-style abortion ban

Source: The Hill

A Texas-style bill that aims to ban abortions after six weeks and allow certain individuals to sue abortion providers passed the Idaho House of Representatives on Monday.

The state House voted 51 to 14 to approve the legislation, following Senate passage earlier this month. The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Brad Little (R).

If Little signs the bill, it would take effect as early as April, well before the Supreme Court is expected to rule on Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban in a case that could overturn or significantly weaken Roe v. Wade.

The Idaho legislation is modeled after a controversial law in Texas that allows any private citizen to file lawsuits against anyone who performs, aids or abets an abortion after fetal cardiac activity is detected, which is usually after six weeks.

I imagine a lot of women will be traveling to Washington and Oregon where we don't have these restrictions.

I know his family owns a fairly large cattle operation. Whether they grow spuds too is something I can't find, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were.

Given that, expect Little to go full lunatic between now and the election to fight off Janice and Ammon.

Of what we used to call “moderate republicans.” Those folks that were deeply religious and fiscally conservative but also moderate social conservatives. Many of them have had it with the FreeDumb Foundation acolytes who have found their way into local politics - squeezing out those who had a conscience and a soul.

I may be overly hopeful but even conservative local newspapers are turning their fire on the FreeDumb Fascists. Perhaps they have overplayed their hand?

We could target gas-guzzling, guns, noise, frequent flyers, affluenza, obesity, religious behavior. All you need is a law.

And yes this is a war on neighbors ... this abortion law is targeting peoples' private choices. They have guns and $10,000 lawsuits. They want to restrict CRT and LGBTQ. Where does it stop? How do we get these monkeys off our backs?

Look at California -- a tiny exodus of blue voters moving to ID could overwhelm GOP majority there.

So pass the most insane laws to make ID look like a place only red voters want to move to and live in. Also drives out blue voters with options.

My daughter lives in Boise. Love the area, the mountains. The wackos, not so much.

And if you are sued for donating to let's say Planned Parenthood, you can not counter sue. All you can do is suck up the costs of defending yourself and the crazy forced birther can do it all again with absolutely no repercussions.....even if no particular zygote is ever identified.

So, someone you don’t know could sue you for intending to aid someone else you don’t know in obtaining an abortion, then you have to pay a lawyer to defend you and will have to travel to a court in Texas to protect yourself.

For all you know some crazy religious forced birther has already filed suit against you in Texas. All they need is a list of people who donate to Planned Parenthood.

No surprise. I get real tired of all the "do gooders", think religious driven busy bodies, who want to control all behavior. I guarantee you that if we decided to pass laws restricting any religious practice they would go nuts. When I've asked some of these anti-abortion people who is going to take care of that unwanted child their stock answer is "Oh someone will". Yet if you press them if they would step up to do so they have a million excuses of why they can't. They are good at lecturing and controlling people but fall way short if asked to actually do something. If we tried to interfere in their lives like they try to do to others their tune would change real fast.

Can the woman sue the man and his family for support until the child reaches 18?

Only fair.
