10 Shot Outside Arkansas Car Show, Kids Reported Among the Victims
Source: Daily Beast
As many as ten people were injured late Saturday after gunfire erupted outside a car show in Dumas, Arkansas, authorities said.
The Arkansas State Police confirmed that troopers were dispatched to the scene just before 7:30 p.m. The circumstances that led to the shooting at the 16th Annual Hood-Nic event were not immediately clear.
Witnesses cited in local media reports said children were among the victims. The Desha County Office of Emergency Management said at least one child was transported to the Arkansas Children's Hospital. The agency said there was a high-speed pursuit and a head-on crash in addition to the mass shooting, though it was not immediately clear if the events were thought to be connected.
Video shared on social media that was said to have been taken at the scene of the shooting showed police and ambulances flooding the area as a man with an injury was helped by friends. Another video showed a crowd of attendees listening to music and chatting when a series of loud shots rang out, sending everyone scattering.

(6,905 posts)Another 2nd Amendment protection firearm? How many of those people killed were government agents threatening to overthrow Constitutional freedoms and take away their guns?
Its a trick questionthe answer is always zero, except on January 6th.

(10,134 posts)Vermont has a higher average income, their property is of higher value, though maintenance costs are very similar. Vermont has a higher percentage of people with higher education, with healthcare insurance and with home ownership.
Arkansas has a younger population and more poverty. Arkansas has over 3 million people and Vermont has about 600,000.
It's like apples and oranges.

(36,238 posts)Then someone who was a victim of a mass shooter. The odds of you and only you bring shot by a lone individual is much higher then you bring a victim of a mass shooter. according to one site, there were a little over a thousand victims of mass shooters between 2009 and 2019. There were over quarter million gun related deaths over the same time period.

(17,870 posts)but culturally VT and AR are about as similar as night and day. And that has nothing to do with race. I grew up in the south and lived there much of my life. Moved to VT some years ago and the differences are huge.
And yet....we still have our own gun issues. It's not some gun rights panacea by any means. We get most things right around here, but guns aren't one of them.

Maybe the NRA will blame the liberal gun laws in Arkansas or the gun free zones outside the venue.

Finch said police have a person of interest in custody but continue to investigate whether more people may have been involved.
It's unclear what caused the shooting or the conditions of many of those injured.
