Weather Conditions Continue to Fuel Texas Fires

Two firefighters were injured fighting a blaze on Sunday, and more evacuations were ordered.

Fueled by unfavorable weather conditions, wildfires forced the evacuations of more areas in Central Texas on Sunday, fire officials said.

Residents of the city of Lipan, about 55 miles west of Fort Worth, were ordered to evacuate as firefighters and two air tankers using retardant were dispatched to confront a new 3,000-acre fire on the border of Erath and Hood Counties.

Two firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze, which has been named the Big L fire, said Lt. Johnny Rose of the Hood County Sheriff’s Office. He did not know the extent of the injuries.

The Big L fire was one of several blazes that threatened the region on Sunday. By Sunday evening, additional crews had arrived at the fire, which had grown to 11,000 acres and was 10 percent contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

I know that TX is a big state, but if you are in one of the impacted areas or on the fringes, please have a plan to evacuate.

The time to keep yourself safe is now. Have a plan.

the relatively sparse vegetation in much of Texas would spare them the worst effects of fires resulting from global warming. OR, that the impacts wouldn't be bad for a few more decades. Oops, denying science and reality is catching up to them now.

false data in various captive journals by paid industry staff which were intended to cloud the issue. This was revealed in the lawsuit against Chevron's actions in Ecuador.

It worked. Otherwise sensible people still insist those reports are true and that the whole contention that human activity, specifically extraction and burning fossil fuels, generated climate change and global warming is based on biased interpretation. They disregard conflicting evidence with the same passion as religious zealots. They have no idea that the principles of global warming as a result of excessive CO2 emissions was first proposed in 1896. They believe it is propaganda.

In case you forgot, Trump blamed CA fires on our not raking the leaves.
