Biden press secretary has COVID-19, won't travel to Europe
Source: Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday that she is positive again for COVID-19 and will not accompany President Joe Biden to Europe this week for urgent meetings with world counterparts on Russias invasion of Ukraine.
Biden tested negative on Tuesday, she said.
Psakis reinfection is the latest COVID-19 scare for the White House after recent positive tests for Vice President Kamala Harris husband and Irelands prime minister, who was in the nations capital last week for a series of in-person celebrations of St. Patricks Day with Biden and other officials.
The scares come as the Biden administration is trying to help the United States ease back into its pre-pandemic norms, even as cases climb in Europe due to a new variant of the omicron variant of the coronavirus.

(15,220 posts)But that kind of deflates the argument about immunity from a prior infection. Surely there is some, just not enough to keep one from catching it a second time. Shes vaxxed and boosted and will hopefully be just fine.
Any news on President Obama? Im assuming no news is good news and that hes just fine by now.

(13,465 posts)read about people getting omicron a couple of times. Dont know what she had the first time. The vaccine is supposed to keep you out of the hospital, not necessarily keep you from getting it. Friend of mine recently retired from a doctors office where she was a nurse practitioner. Never got Covid. Within the first two weeks of being retired, she got omicron. She believes she got it from one of her grandchildren that she kept the first few days after retiring. By the way she was a strong advocate for being vaccinated and boosted and wearing masks.

(16,902 posts)But, once again, I say: Covid is not over. Living with it is like living next to a hive of killer bees. I see on worldometer, that the U.S. is 644 deaths away from 1,000,000 Covid deaths, as of about 10 minutes ago, when I looked.
Let that sink in. Way back when this started, medical experts said the U.S. would lose at least 2 million people to Covid. That was before the vaccine. So because of the rush to live by a killer bee nest, people are still dying. I have no doubt that we will lose 2 million people. I am grimly living my life to avoid being a Covid statistic, either recovered, recovered with lingering symptoms, permanant damage, such as to brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, or dead.
As long as the number of deaths and new cases keeps going up, we are not back to normal. I hope people like Ms. Psaki, Pres. Obama, and other leading lights stop putting themselves in danger why? Why? What is worth living impaired or dying for that won't wait for this plague to be over?

(1,969 posts)Many of us would have probably tested positive a few times over the last two years. Since we didn't do daily testing, we had no idea we were infected.

Discussions on DU about Covid seem to include various people really invested in saying how sick someone is or isn't.
