WARSAW, Poland (AP) Poland has identified 45 Russian intelligence officers using diplomatic status as cover to stay in the country and authorities are seeking to expel them, officials said Wednesday.
Polands Internal Security Agency says its asking the Foreign Ministry to urgently remove the Russians, who were described as a danger to Polands security, from the country.
These are people who have and operate using their diplomatic status, but in reality conduct intelligence activities against Poland, said Stanislaw Zaryn, the state security spokesman.
He said the decision to expel them now was made taking into account Russian aggression against Ukraine.

(2,338 posts)The number of diplomats Russia has in Poland has to be a bit high for a country of its size for there to be 45 that have been identified basically as spies. The Republic of Ireland also has/had the same issue with an outsized/oversized diplomatic delegation.
If my suspicion is correct with respect to the delegation size in Poland, then it stands to reason that if Russia is overstocking its embassies elsewhere, you might just find a nest of KGB
sorry
FSB and/or GRU agents.
