More Than Half of Ukraine's Children Displaced by War, UN Says
Source: Bloomberg
A month of war in Ukraine has displaced 4.3 million children, more than half the countrys child population, according to the global relief organization Unicef.
The United Nations agency says 1.8 million children have crossed into neighbouring countries as refugees while another 2.5 million have moved within Ukraine following Russias invasion.
The war has caused one of the fastest large-scale displacements of children since World War II, Unicef Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a statement. This is a grim milestone that could have lasting consequences for generations.
The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights estimates that 78 children have been killed and 105 have been injured in Ukraine since the start of the war on Feb. 24. The figures only include reports the UN was able to confirm, meaning the real toll is likely far higher, it said.

Imagine the effect on our society if more than half the children in the US were displaced, with nearly half of those displaced, nearly 1 out of 4 children in the total population, having to become refugees in other countries.
"Lasting consequences for generations" will be an understatement, unless the world can act quickly to help those children.
Including helping their relatives who stayed in Ukraine to fight.
