Arizona lawmakers pass 15-week abortion ban

Source: Axios

Why it matters: The vote comes a month after Arizona's Senate approved the bill, which resembles a Mississippi abortion ban that is currently being considered by the Supreme Court and that could potentially overturn Roe v. Wade.

Details: Arizona's SB 1164 states that any health professional who performs an abortion after the 15th week of pregnancy could lose their medical license or face imprisonment.

The bill does not contain exceptions for cases of rape or incest, only for medical emergencies that could result in the pregnant person's death or "substantial impairment of a major bodily function."

What's next: The bill now heads to desk of Gov. Doug Ducey (R), who is expected to sign it.

Forget states like TX or FL, they're lost causes.

The Democrats need to put more money into AZ races, and find someone more palatable than Sinema, while taking the Governorship.

Thousands of mail ballots were discarded from the recent Texas primary, many of then in Democratic counties. The reasons given were errors by voters. Among those errors were not using the same ID number as when you first registered to vote, which might have been more than 50 years ago for seniors who usually vote by mail r not recording the ID in exactly the place on the envelope—not the ballot itself but envelope in which it is mailed. Last I knew, envelopes aren’t counted, ballots are.

Texas Republicans got exactly what they wanted—thousands of Democratic votes they could toss in the trash. Few Democrats will win anything in this state. Spend time and money on the swing states and other states like Ohio where we might pick up a Senate seat.

12. I always vote in person. I just hope Dems in the large cities can get the word out to mail voters.

Some people aren’t physically able to go vote in person, so Democratic groups in the large cities need to educate voters about the hidden traps Republicans put in voting by mail.

I am just amazed that you can buy pot but can't get an abortion if your fetus dies inside a womb at 16 weeks.
