EU strikes gas deal with the U.S. as it seeks to cut its reliance on Russia

Source: CNBC

The U.S. said Friday it will work with international partners to provide at least 15 billion cubic meters more of liquified natural gas to Europe this year, seeking to end the bloc’s dependence on Russian energy exports following the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.

These additional volumes of LNG are expected to increase going forward, the White House said in a statement.

It comes amid heightened concern that energy-importing countries continue to top up President Vladimir Putin’s war chest with oil and gas revenue on a daily basis.

U.S. President Joe Biden described the agreement as a “groundbreaking” new initiative designed to “increase energy security, economic security and national security.”

Because the competition for purchase by Europe, simply from eliminating purchases from Russia, will cause LNG prices to go up. These assholes are going to make a killing.

Those price increases will be totally independent from Biden's deal to sell to Europe. Watch.

India, Brazil and South Africa, among others have stated that they have no intentions of joining in the sanctioning of Russia for its unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

In India's case though, I'm wondering how many American and any other countries imposing sanctions will address the fact that many companies employ thousands of Indians in customer service/tech support call centers. For example, Microsoft uses many Indian employees for its phone/online support. I'm just wondering if anyone with these companies has addressed that all of that payroll will continue to use Russian oil that the Indian government has stated that they will continue to buy.

I thought of this since they just agreed to purchase 3 million barrels at a discount. Seems now that some countries are going to be enticed into making purchases at 'Vlad's Discount Oil & Gas.'
