Much of Shanghai locked down as mass Covid-19 testing begins

Source: Politico

BEIJING — China began locking down most of its largest city of Shanghai on Monday as a coronavirus outbreak surges and amid questions about the economic toll of the nation’s “zero-Covid” strategy.

Shanghai’s Pudong financial district and nearby areas will be locked down from early Monday to Friday as citywide mass testing gets underway, the local government said. In the second phase of the lockdown, the vast downtown area west of the Huangpu River that divides the city will then start its own five-day lockdown Friday.

Residents will be required to stay home and deliveries will be left at checkpoints to ensure there is no contact with the outside world. Offices and all businesses not considered essential will be closed and public transport suspended.

Already, many communities within the city of 26 million have been locked down, with their residents required to submit to multiple tests for Covid-19. And Shanghai’s Disney theme park is among the businesses that closed earlier.

They are so restricted with mandatory mask wearing, quarantines, vaccines and testing. These whiney truckers should go to China and help those folks be free to spread a deadly virus. The next COVID variants are counting on these truckers to spread them far and wide.

"If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Don't think the general population wants to die, but I'm not so sure the Chinese Gov. would be heartbroken if s few hundred million passed on. Might solve some problems for them.

Just a thought.

And maybe a thought by and of some from this country.

The ENTIRE GOP plan for EVERYTHING is to have the poor die off (in this country and around the world) and then in their pea-brains everything will be milk and honey.

to be tested three times a week.

Their policy is draining their bank account for the country. . .their "zero covid" policy is the reason all flights into China must be direct flights. And then you are subject to a 28 day quarantine even if you test negative for over a week.

They are also starting to restrict passports for Chinese citizens because their news is telling them that all COVID in China now is brought in by foreigners and that either Italy or Moderna caused the COVID pandemic.

I know I am going back to China in two months, but both my wife and I are considering other places to go now.

COVID has become the authoritarian's enablers and the xenophobia is running rampant now.
