CDC Green Lights 4th Dose Boosters For Most Americans Over 50

Source: Business Insider

The CDC recommended additional booster shots for older adults in the US on Monday, hours after the FDA authorized the same. The CDC said people over 50 with underlying medical conditions, and everyone over 65, may get a second boost. Second boosts can be given with Moderna or Pfizer's vaccine, at least four months after a first booster.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has given the final OK for additional boosters to be administered to older adults in pharmacies and doctor's offices across the US.

On Tuesday afternoon, the CDC said it was updating its booster shot recommendations to allow people over 50 with underlying medical conditions that increase their COVID risk and everyone over 65
to get a 4th dose of an mRNA vaccine, from either Pfizer or Moderna, at least four months after their first boost.

(Adults who received a primary vaccine and booster dose of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine at least four months ago can also get a second booster, but only with Pfizer or Moderna product)...

It won't let me schedule a fourth Pfizer dose. It's been over 4 months since the third dose (second booster) and I'm over 50.

i just got back home--the pharmacist wouldn't give me the fucking booster because it's going to take a couple days to hear from corporate and get the go-ahead!!!

i had called earlier today and was told to just come in.

apparently the person i spoke with at the pharmacy didn't know what the fuck they were talking about.

(i'm really pissed and disappointed; i work around over 100 kids a week--majority aren't masking anymore, and i'm going back to work next week.)

turning people away who want to get a covid shot/booster. shame on them!

fucking walgreens!

oh, btw--good luck to you tomorrow.

If they can't give me a booster tomorrow I'll just come back when they can, no big deal. I was able to get the first booster from them last September only two days after it was authorized, so I figure it won't take long. Hope you can get your shot soon.

The wording of some of these headlines about waning immunity are borderline silly. Going from 95% effectiveness to 80ish doesn't warrant yet another shot. Thats still far higher than the annual flu shot. They write these headlines like it goes from 90% to 20%.
And I'll bet many REPUTABLE doctors will balk at a 4th shot at this time.
