Update: Authorities Detonate 2nd Suspicious Package At Florida Early Voting Site

Source: TPM

Authorities in Winter Park, Fla. have detonated a second suspicius package found near an early voting site on Saturday, a spokersperson for the Winter Park Public Library confirmed to TPM.

"They detonated it 15 minutes ago," Mary Gail Coffee said. "No update on what it was."

The lead poll worker at the site called police around noon on Saturday after an unattended lunch box of some kind was found near the polling site. Law enforcement officials brought police dogs and a robot capable of taking x-rays to the scene, but were unable to determine the contents of the first package, so they destroyed it in a controlled detonation. It is unclear where the second package was found. The library has been evacuated, and voting at the site suspended.

and that is the site where I go to early vote, just a ways down the street. There is some stupid stuff going on around here, yard sign valdalism and such. I cut the lawn today and found a couple of bottles that seem to have been tossed at the house (but with not quite enough arm to get them there). Wednesday am could yet be interesting, particularly if we go blue.

A Winter Park, Fla. early voting site has been given the "all clear" following the discovery and controlled detonation of two suspicious packages on Saturday.

Mary Gail Coffee, a spokersperson for the Winter Park Public Library, told TPM that law enforcement officials now consider the matter an ongoing investigation, and that voting was resuming at the site.

"We just let voters back in the building," Coffee said.

This is just the beginning. we have become an unstable nation filled with terrorists. We have radical theological extremism in todays America. We have always been a contentious electorate since we were a colony. But the fight was fair. The rules were clear and the law was respected. Those days are over.
The law is for sale. Along with every thing else.Money has become a weapon. That changes everything.

The republican's deliberate effort to spread misinformation is a dangerous practice. Their deliberate effort to frighten people is a dangerous business to be in. It is irresponsible and when people get hurt from it, they will act as if they are innocent. They are not. As they ignore the ramifications of these machinations I am amazed by their complete lack of empathy. This goes to the heart of the conservative mind. They fail to understand their own limited authority.

I hope I am wrong, but I am afraid we may experience some actual violence in the process and aftermath of the election. I am surprised by what I believe. I never though our nation would sink to this level.

...but now Republicans running for office have told their followers to think of guns as an option if they lose.

They have also told them Obama has ALREADY taken away their freedom and act the country is already in the middle of a new civil war.

These are the types of people who act like they're talking to God on a walkie-talkie as they run around in the woods pretending they're attacking a base flying a United Nations flag.

Places down in Central and South America, where gangs tried to threaten voters with explosives and snipers. We all called those places banana republics.. and there were cells of gangs everywhere trying to disrupt an election. I hope that kind of thinking hasn't come here. Tea baggers talking about watering the tree of Liberty with blood.. Standing around wearing their 2nd amendment rights on their hips.. all threatening it might be different "the next time." I am glad the FBI and Homeland Security are down in Florida.. but I wonder if this may all become the new normal as elections happen in the near future. This is a critical year for voting, and some might think if votes don't work, than bullets might. These kind of people are the dangerous ones, and we may have to constantly be vigilant for these kinds of low information voters, who believe its their god given right, to protect their values with their 2nd amendment rights.

I hope no one is that far off the edge in their party.

Methinks someone there doesn't want to chance the possibility of finding out who is responsible for these suspicious packages
