Jen Psaki to Exit as White House Spokesperson for MSNBC Gig Next Month

Source: The Wrap

Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary since before the inauguration of Joe Biden, will leave her post and is in talks to join MSNBC in May, according to multiple media reports.

Axios, which cites a source close to the matter, first reported the news Friday, and TheHill, citing two sources familiar with the deal, confirmed it. Psaki's departure has been speculated about for weeks.

Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy, a regular gadfly for Psaki's tenure at the podium, asked at a briefing last month whether she was seeking a job at CNN or MSNBC. She replied: "I have more than enough on my plate here. So … you can't get rid of quite yet. Sorry, Peter, for you on that."

MSNBC did not immediately respond to messages seeking commment. The White House had not addressed comment requests from Axios or TheHill.

Maybe not for TFG since they averaged like one conference very 6 months, but Psaki is on point nearly every day and has shown us how it's done. She definitely deserves to use her accumulated karma to step up to a new role of her choosing.

I'd suspect Psaki knows she's good, and hopefully has been involved with choosing and training her replacement.

That's why I'd hope she is involved choosing whomever comes next!

I often see the best Maddow clips in the video section here on DU and often on YouTube, so if she ends up replacing (the also irreplaceable) Maddow, hopefully you'll have access to the highlights!

She taught PR how to handle the crap the media can throw at you. She put words to our policies and ideology. She will be missed, but sometimes you leave a job at peak performance because there are better opps, and no further upside is available. She is the trooper of troopers, the voice that saved America, the very best of the best.

She is literally one of a kind and was in that position at the right time given what happened January 6th, and being in an era of loons that call themselves "news media".

She got that bar set so high that few other than her can go over it with such ease!

Jen would not be taking Rachel's spot.

Psaki will host a show for MSNBC on NBCUniversal's streaming platform, Peacock.

She will also be a part of live programming on MSNBC's cable network as a voice on different shows, but she will not be hosting the 9 p.m. hour replacing Rachel Maddow, which has been speculated.

Sadly.

So much of the reporting on this has made it sound like a done deal but if one reads carefully, they all go on to say she is "in talks with MSNBC". Hope they don't put the jinx on the deal - nothing's signed yet.

relative TV novice as the host of that show - they're going to see how she does hosting a show on Peacock (the "minor league" of NBC/MSNBC) and how she does as a contributor on MSNBC shows before they give her any weekday show on MSNBC (much less the flagship show). This is better for her anyway - better to learn how to host a show on Peacock than trying to do that on the big stage.

Jen Psaki was never intending to stay as White House Press Sec. for longer than one year. Yes she is great and wonderful, but Biden has known all along that they would need to replace her. I'm sure they have a plan for this already.

I don't blame her - she has a hubby and 2 small kids at home. This high stress job isn't worth it.
