Trump deflects blame for Jan. 6 silence, says he wanted to march to Capitol
Source: Washington Post
I thought it was a shame, and I kept asking why isnt she doing something about it? Why isnt Nancy Pelosi doing something about it? And the mayor of D.C. also. The mayor of D.C. and Nancy Pelosi are in charge, Trump said of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot in a 45-minute interview with The Washington Post. I hated seeing it. I hated seeing it. And I said, Its got to be taken care of, and I assumed they were taking care of it.
The 45th president has repeatedly deflected blame for stoking the attack with false claims that the 2020 election was stolen, and in the interview, he struck a defiant posture, refusing to say whether he would testify before a congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault. Trump said he didnt remember getting very many phone calls that day, and he denied removing call logs or using burner phones.
Trump also said he had spoken during his presidency with Virginia Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. A seven-hour gap in Trumps phone records on Jan. 6, and Thomass texts to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows urging the White House to fight the election results, have both come under scrutiny by the Jan. 6 committee.

(21,684 posts)new views that has allowed him to get away with so much for so long. It's his "greased eel" slippery approach to reality.
He reminds me of Don Quixote whose delusions suck other people into his reality. But in the book this behavior is a humorous satire on society. In real life, when done diberately, it's a gas lighting menace to society.

(16,254 posts)Nancy Pelosi to blame? Nancy was in the process of saving her own life, let alone those under her responsibility.
Boy, he had to dig deep for that lie.
Oh, I see...both are women. That makes sense in Trump world.

(511 posts)It's always up to somebody else to clean up his messes, apparently even if he was president at the time. What a load of BS.

(47,675 posts)He would have been better off not speaking at all, but he is inherently incapable of keeping his mouth shut. How does he think anything he said makes him look better?
Classic Trump - take credit for all things good and pass the blame for all things bad.

was commander-in-chief. All he had to do was get on the phone and call up the Nat'l Guard.
The sorry sob, does he actually think we believe that he wasn't reponsible, that this new lie will work?

(5,646 posts)A simple, "Well, Mr. TFG, you were TFG, it was YOUR responsibility to call it off, not theirs".
Or perhaps a more succinct, "BULLSHIT, Mr. TFG"!
Print that.

All I can say, is Come On! This guy needs to be hung up publicly by his balls. And soon ... he's a frigging metastatic cancer! Excise him now! Pair him with Putin and excise them both; our world hangs in the balance.
ps -- I'm quite serious in my view about this, though I could accept a lesser form of controlling the beast once and for all as long -- so long as it comes before it's too late in my lifetime.
