Nancy Pelosi tests positive for COVID-19

Source: Axios

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, according to a statement.

Driving the news: "After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic," Drew Hammill, Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, wrote in a tweet.

Pelosi attended an event with President Biden at the White House on Wednesday.

The big picture: Pelosi is the latest in a slew of White House officials and members of Congress to test positive for COVID-19 this week.

Hopefully she will be fine. She has everything going for her. Is asymptomatic and feels fine. All good news but for the Covid diagnosis.

The after effects of Covid are still a big question mark. Long Covid is real. It took me months to get my energy up after Covid last year. I am very fortunate to have good insurance and after a trip to the ER with a racing heart rate, my Doc ordered up a ton of cardiac work and thankfully my insurance paid for most of it. After my 750 dollar deductible there were a few hundred more dollars, but could have been much worse. I had an EKG, Blood Work, a 2 week Zio heart monitor and an echocardiogram of my heart. At least I have a great post Covid baseline of cardiac activity.

to that gridiron dinner too? Was it a mix of republicans and democrats that attended? I believe people are getting Covid and going out anyway spreading it, but I think it’s been this way for a very long time.

But the House no longer requires masks, so she could have picked it up from anyone who was infected.

-- from a daily average of about 8 per 100k to 18 per 100k.

If Washington D.C. was a state, it would be the state with the #1 highest percentage increase over 14 days (7 day moving average thru April 6 compared to 7 day moving average thru March 23).

no paywall, no quota

18 per 100k is still quite low, but, well, last July things were quite low too and back then almost everybody who was going to get double vaxxed was double vaxxed, and yet another variant came along and then another and ...

27 states have increased new cases compared to 14 days earlier

But the U.S. overall is down 2%.

So far I have been lucky. I still avoid crowds and wear a mask when in stores.
