CNN Exclusive: 'We control them all': Donald Trump Jr. texted Meadows ideas for overturning 2020 election before it was called

Washington (CNN)Two days after the 2020 presidential election, as votes were still being tallied, Donald Trump's eldest son texted then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows that "we have operational control" to ensure his father would get a second term, with Republican majorities in the US Senate and swing state legislatures, CNN has learned.

In the text, which has not been previously reported, Donald Trump Jr. lays out ideas for keeping his father in power by subverting the Electoral College process, according to the message reviewed by CNN. The text is among records obtained by the House select committee investigating January 6, 2021.

"It's very simple," Trump Jr. texted to Meadows on November 5, adding later in the same missive: "We have multiple paths We control them all."

In a statement to CNN, Trump Jr.'s lawyer Alan S. Futerfas said, "After the election, Don received numerous messages from supporters and others. Given the date, this message likely originated from someone else and was forwarded."

...to overthrow the USA. But they are fuckups. And they fucked up. The Republicans failed in their evil. America goes on, limping from the wounds they inflicted, but proudly going forward as a democracy with honest leadership.

I wonder how many times he go the same email. It must have been a nightmare being constantly lobbied by the worst people in America.

I am so fucking glad Trump is gone. Now if he would just die of natural causes...

In a statement to CNN, Trump Jr.'s lawyer Alan S. Futerfas said, "After the election, Don received numerous messages from supporters and others. Given the date, this message likely originated from someone else and was forwarded."

As I say above, Meadows was getting constant texts from all over, including forwards from Ginny Thomas.

It works against us, the majority. It didn’t help the Republicans (this time) when they hoped to distort it in all new ways. Let’s dump it. I know, I know. That’s easier said than done.

Where were all the folks who were supposed to pull this off? A professional, almost by definition, is someone who can make hard things look easy. TFG is just a pretender. He's bluffed, bullied and whined his way through life. That doesn't work for real world problems. You just can't say "it's this way" and it magically falls into place.

Oh, and I damn well know TFG had no intention of turning over the reigns of government. Remember when he wouldn't cooperate with the transition folks? He had every intention of staying in the office up until the fiasco that was January 6th. Some folks are pretending that wasn't what happened. The majority of us know what a sh-t show TFG had in store for the rest of us.

Your comment was “…what a sh-t show TFG had in store for the rest of us…”, then

I wonder, what a Sh-t show we had in store for them. I seriously doubt, most Americans would have turned a blind eye to overthrowing the government. THere would have been hell to pay, and I suspect most people would not have waited for the DOJ…. To debate whether overthrowing the government is legal or not.

I agree with you, I wouldn't have just rolled over if my state tried to halt the counting of votes in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. It was bad enough hearing the rest of the State Repubs constantly say, "it's Philadelphia County, we all know they cheat". (A very thinly veiled racial dog whistle)

The whole idea that TFG could throw out an election and redo it is crazy talk. Again, you can't just order the military to seize voting machines and redo the election for "select" states. I wouldn't expect TFG to understand what fragging refers to.

Again, all Repubs assume an effeminate opposition. All they'll do is yell loudly and all you need to do is swing a few billie clubs and they'll run for cover. They never assume the other guy just might hit back if you push them too far.

Meadows sure turned over a lot of information. Won't be surprised to learn that Meadows has testified or will be testifying to DoJ's GJ. I think this is why DoJ hasn't moved on the House's Meadow criminal referral.

...like to beat the living crap out of this guy. I mean, to within an inch of his life. Hit him with so many lefts, Kim would beg me to hit him with a right. I feel like he never really had to deal with life after getting a beat down and if he would have, he might not be such an entitled prick. I guess what I'm saying is, that he has a very punchable face, and I would like to hit him just once right in his snot locker. Just once. But really hard.
