June runoff set for House seat in California once held by Devin Nunes
Source: Washington Post
Democrat Lourin Hubbard won the second slot in a June runoff to replace former Rep. Devin Nunes (R) in Californias 22nd Congressional District, the Associated Press projected Friday. He will face Republican Connie Conway, who earlier was projected to make the runoff after leading in Tuesdays voting.
Nunes resigned from Congress in January to take over the Trump Media and Technology Group. The winner of the June 7 runoff will fill out the remainder of Nuness term.
Neither Conway nor Hubbard is running for a full term in November. Tuesday marked the last election under the districts current lines; voters will choose candidates in newly drawn districts starting in June.
Completing the vote count will take several more days; under state law, mail ballots can arrive as late as April 12 if postmarked by Tuesday.

(15,031 posts)even if all the Democratic votes cast Tuesday (there were three Democrats in the running) went to Hubbard, the Republican would still win. And there were a number of other Republicans in the race, as well, so the margin may be insurmountable.
I could be wrong about this - hope I am - but that's what I remember reading the other day. And remember, too, it's rural Fresno.

(15,031 posts)Yeah, looks like I had the number of people running mistaken, but the numbers still tilt heavily to the Republican.
