More than 20 countries will meet to assess Ukrainian military's needs
Source: Washington Post
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Friday that more than 20 countries already have agreed to participate in a consultative meeting next week at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Defense ministers and senior military officers from the United States and partner nations will discuss what long-term assistance Ukraines military needs to remain potent, including after the war with Russia.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin does not have a specific outcome in mind for the meeting, first announced Thursday, Kirby said.
Hes not going into this meeting on Tuesday with a preset list of things that we have to drive to, Kirby said. He wants to hear from allies and partners, and from the Ukrainians themselves about what they are doing and what they will need going forward.
Kirby said the meeting is not meant to get security guarantees for Ukraine.

(7,432 posts)The backstory that's being executed right now is the intelligence-gathering shared by western alliances and UKR. Ukrainian military commanders likely are being fed information on Russian troop movements around-the-clock. And because a large slice of the Russian Army is reluctant to fight, it's safe to assume that it's a rich environment to recruit informants. So there may already be a contingent of the military who are informing others of officer movements. This is how the Russians will be defeated, IMO. They will crumble from within.

(9,259 posts)who will be supplying what Ukraine needs. 200 tons of ammunition are heading from Spain now for example. MiG-29s are mysteriously turning up at Ukraine airbases. Howitzers are arriving - as are armored troop carriers. Ukraine now has more tanks than the Russians.
The delays are unconscionable, but better than never.

The outrageous thing is that Ukrainians could have started training on western weapons two months ago. The Brits, for example, had people in Ukraine trying them on NLAWS in January.
Here is something else. Ukraine want to being training it's pilots on F-15s ASAP.

I have this secret wish that they get delivered to Ukrainian Pilots who have been training on them and swoop in going right at all of the miles of Russian Tanks and trucks planning to try to take Ukraine.
