Republican Party is 'the MAGA party now,' Biden says after McCarthy audio's release

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden took an unusually harsh swipe at his Republican opponents during Earth Day remarks on Friday, calling their party the "MAGA party," a reference to former President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.

"This ain’t your father’s Republican Party,” Biden said during remarks in Seattle, as he described the difficulty in getting Republican support for his climate change and other goals in Congress.

"All you got to do is look at what’s being played this morning, about the tape that was released," Biden said, without going into specifics.

The Democratic president was referring to an audiotape made public this week that showed Kevin McCarthy, the top Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, saying that Republican then-President Donald Trump should resign over the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

If you're ever going to be unusually harsh about the Traitor Party, might as well do it where you got 75% of the vote (and it was higher in Seattle proper).

Biden earned 75% of the vote in King County, home to Seattle. This was the largest margin by any candidate in a presidential race since the county's creation.

The MAGA party stands for Make America Great Again Party.

MAGATs will simply nod and say....."uh yeah, that's right"

the kremlin's been using rw radio at least since 2008 when they used manager and limbaugh to force palin on mccain. that they did that indicates they already knew how important limbaugh was, likely through manafort advising them for years about US politics.

now rw radio has no central messaging control and leader (scripted).

trumpism is dead and McCarthy and other trump tools are screwed. the dittoheads are now all over the place, with limbaugh's multiple replacements struggling to think for themselves. even the dumbfuck conservadems manchin and sinema are doomed without limbaugh to make excuses for them and create unified made-to-order constituencies to enable them.

tying the GOP to trump is the best thing dems can do, and it would help to expose limbaugh as a russian tool

Obama is a brilliant man, and one of the best speakers we've ever had as President, but Biden has a great edge, that the Democratic party needed.

And I'm only questioning it because others will too.

Ever since GOP Senators failed to convict on TFG's first impeachment in 2019, it's been his party. They refused to hold him accountable and emboldened him.

Publicly acknowledging that is the right thing to do. Doing it nearly 3 years later makes it look like he wasn't paying attention.

I'm saying that, from a POLITICAL standpoint, the window to make this statement was a long time ago. (Maybe he did make the statement a long time ago and I missed it.)

Though if he can manage to keep the narrative about current members of the GOP legislative delegation to their corrupt attempt to overthrow the government--and how if THEY'RE not held accountable it could happen again--it may be of use in the mid-terms.

And gee... I'm really sorry for having an opinion. I guess if having an opinion is grounds for us all attacking each other, then we all may as well just post cat vids in the Lounge.
