Judge: Marjorie Taylor Greene is qualified for reelection

ATLANTA (AP) A judge in Georgia on Friday found that U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green can run for reelection, rejecting arguments from a group of voters who had challenged her eligibility over allegations that she engaged in insurrection. But the decision will ultimately be up to Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
State Administrative Law Judge Charles Beaudrot announced his decision after a daylong hearing in April that included arguments from lawyers for the voters and for Greene, as well as extensive questioning of Greene herself.
State law says Beaudrot must submit his findings to Raffensperger, who has to decide whether Greene should be removed from the ballot.
The challenge to Greenes eligibility was filed by voters who allege the GOP congresswoman played a significant role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot that disrupted Congress certification of Joe Bidens presidential election victory. That puts her in violation of a seldom-invoked part of the 14th Amendment having to do with insurrection and makes her ineligible to run for reelection, they argue.

(33,400 posts)Only the pawns dumb enough to film themselves committing property crimes. Giving tours to insurrectionists on your 1st day in office, inciting riots, subverting the Electoral process, that's all peachy. IOKIYAR.
the 14th Am Section 3 was a one-time thing.
Tell me how I'm not supposed to be cynical about this nation.

(43,295 posts)Let's get another 6 months of exposure for J6 insurrectionists and see how MTG's actions are shown to the world. This could be revisited if she wins reelection ... as in she's not qualified to take office again.

(1,340 posts)There's just too much stupidity now, and it stretches from supposed leaders to high school students who can't spell. Every trumper is stupid, simply based on their supporting trump, and that includes nearly all republicans. Too few people capable of original thought any more. I don't see a path to it getting any better, our schools continue to spew out idiots (football is WAY more important than learning) and trumper voters continue to put morons in office. This is a remarkably toxic country. I used to love it.

(94,737 posts)...nothing to do with Judicial bias; everything to do with a lack of evidence implicating her in an i8nsurrection.
Needs to get their asses in gear and find out WHO planted those bombs on 1/5!

(54,770 posts)waste of time and didn't help anything. Might not have hurt anything, but who knows.
As much as I despise her, she couldn't be banned from running from office without a conviction for a crime. Now, burned as a witch is another matter entirely!
