GOP governor says he opposes national abortion ban

Source: ABC News

Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Sunday that he opposes a national ban on abortion because it would take away the authority of a state like his that is poised to immediately ban abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court.

"I think that's inconsistent with what we've been fighting for for decades, which is that we wanted the Roe vs. Wade reversed and the authority to return to the states," Hutchinson told ABC's "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz. "So, as a matter of principle, that's where it should be."

Hutchinson appeared on "This Week" just days after an unprecedented leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion on abortion cast a new spotlight on what could happen if the high court overturns Roe v. Wade.

The document, obtained by Politico, though not final shows the Supreme Court's conservative majority of justices are ready to overturn nearly 50 years of established abortion rights precedent through its decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health case out of Mississippi that the court heard last year. A ruling is expected by the end of June.

Human rights of women will not only vary from state to state but will in most states be decided by majority male legislatures

To travel from NY to Florida or Arkansas or Texas may become for women like traveling to Saudi Arabia.

We have entered the second Civil War large scale shooting hasn’t started yet but we are at war.

Perhaps we'd best play along until we grab the power again. After all, settled law is out the window now.

I just checked Travelocity. It costs about $700 for a round-trip ticket from Little Rock to Chicago. Hutchinson knows that if Roe is overturned all the states around Arkansas will also ban abortion and Missouri, which is between AR and IL, will probably ban passing through their state by road for the purpose of obtaining an abortion. This will mean no driving and no taking the bus.

It doesn’t cost me $700 to fly from Seattle to New York.

If we were in a situation where it wasn’t more expensive to get to where abortions are done than it is to have the procedure done, he would be all in favor of a nationwide ban.

8. So Hutchinson is 'pro-life' in AR but not other states? Hypocritic, thy name is Hutchinson

And, by the way, it isn't pro-life, it is pro-government control of your body. They are only starting with women.

Despite what the bill of rights states do not have rights. A state is a political governmental unit established as a legal construct. They. Do. Not. Have. Rights.

Only human beings have rights.

Enough with the meth labs of kakistocracy.

Republicans are fascists, period. And religionist fascists at that.
