Vicky White Dead After Gunshot Wound

Source: Newsweek

Vicky White is dead after authorities say she shot herself in the head while being apprehended by authorities earlier Monday.

The Alabama corrections officer who allegedly helped murder suspect Casey White escape died at 7:06 p.m., reports WHNT, citing the Vanderburgh County Coroner in Indiana.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding earlier said on Anderson Cooper 360 he didn't expect her to survive overnight because of the serious gunshot injury.

Casey White was hospitalized with less serious injuries after being brought into custody earlier.

Sooner than later, but I thought he would shoot her. Your scenario may just be possible.

If the residue confirms she shot herself and he didn't shoot her, I'm really surprised she had the gun.

But yeah, I can just hear him filling her full of happy horseshit about how they'd never take him alive, be there soon, babe.

taking a Hail Mary shot at having someone love her, even a little bit for a little while, and when that moment for even a little bit of happiness ends in a car rollover, then decides to end herself, probably with a “wouldn’t you know it, just my freaking luck” kind of thought going through her head at her end.

The escape occurred the last day before she would retire.

Edited to add that she had stated her desire to retire, but paperwork was never finalized.

Ah, so sad, but I'm not surprised here. She played a stupid game and knew she was screwing up, badly.

I can't imagine her mindset going into this, but this end doesn't surprise me. She had to know it was a finite end. 4.5 seconds before it blew up on her. Which it did.

Well, not quite like Shakespeare, maybe more like Sid and Nancy, or Bonnie and Clyde.

Predictably bad ending to a bad decision with a bad person.
My heart goes out to the family.

I have seen this before.. not where they break out..
but smuggling contraband in... usually drugs or money
(cashless prison)
inmate has all day to think of things to say
to her ... smh
I was a sgt. in a close custody prison
worked a 2 different units then got
"promoted" to displ. segregation.
got tired of working short .. inmates know how to count...
so found another job.

She was a supervisor at the jail. She knew exactly
what she was doing. She threw her life away.

I assumed he would have killed her.
I'm glad he didn't. But I'm sorry she died.
I'm assuming the embarrassment and shame was too much.
I feel bad for her family that have to deal with losing her this way.

I lost my husband unexpectedly last August.
You go through it, for sure. Harder than most understand.
But a prison break???
