The first shooting, involving three victims, occurred adjacent to the Deer District an entertainment area with numerous bars and restaurants where large crowds often assemble to watch major sporting events.

(42,632 posts)Three ladies injured. The police at first thought it was not a hate crime, but now theyve connected the description of the shooters vehicle to two other recent events. Shooter still at large. The local reporter covering the story used the phrase hopefully it was just a random act of violence and thats when I started yelling at the TV.
The reporter was just talking from a location shotit wasnt a scripted comment, but jeez. Really? Thats the best we can hope for? That the bullet that nearly kills you is just random bad luck?

(42,632 posts)Its just indicative of how accustomed this country has become to gun violence. Sad.
I feel that these 'reporters' have standing orders to try to normalize hate crimes etc...so as to not upset the delicate sensibilities of us out here. Only by being able to walk through these crime scenes, which for the most part we don't have access to, will people understand. And that's to understand what guns in the wrong hands do to innocents. Reality bites believe me...

(36,146 posts)"It's just like you know the guns are crazy. It was down here everybody had a gun, everybody had a gun. You really couldn't go nowhere. Everywhere you turned it was some type of altercation where somebody had a gun up," said Ron Allen, who also lives near the mass shooting scene.
Hearing some of those first-hand accounts, investigators said they were looking to talk to additional witnesses as this investigation widens.
Police have not released the names of any of those involved.
Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-Tips or P3 Tips App.

(16,829 posts)and there were thousands of people watching the game as it was being shown outside the forum. This could have been a lot of fun, but the risk for passing Covid in a huge crowd is a factor. But who wants to risk being shot while you cheer on your sports team?

(33,419 posts)plenty of Democratic gunners - many prominently on DU, arguing that this should absolutely be the state of affairs, that anything less tramples their rights.
And the 2nd Am. says what it says, poorly and anachronistically.

(7,434 posts)Do we find that mass shooters have Biden or AOC literature hidden in their clothes drawers? Do they tweet pro-Biden memes just before going on a rampage? Are there any violence-prone tweeters flooding social media with Democratic Party messaging?
Didn't think so...

(33,419 posts)DU has plenty of 2nd Amendment Absolutists.
I blocked one on Thursday who was gloating about the 7th Circuit decision on CA's age restriction on Semi-Auto purchases, equating "Gun Grabbers" with Anti-Trans Activists.

Assuming they have political affiliations, I doubt theyre what we consider a MAGA type.

(129,609 posts)If you lived here in Philly and listened to the local news, Philly would be the only-ist place in the whole wide wide wide world where shootings are happening and it isn't happening any place else.
And you have states trying to implement (and some succeeding in implementing) what is basically no-holds barred "carry", yet still no background checks for online and/or "gun show" sales where ghost gun kits flourish.

(7,434 posts)It's not led by a belief that guns protect us. It's led by the NRA and the gun manufacturers who TELL US that we're more safe with more guns. And then millions of gullible people buy the bill of goods. It's just successful marketing, with nary a thread of truth.

(8,828 posts)I am sick of all these post shooting comments none of the victims have life threatening injuries. They never say those fucking guns created hell for victims with astronomical medical bills, life debilitating injuries, crippled, disfigured, brain damage, maybe a life time with a colostomy bag. w shucks, just a few scratches, guns are not that big a deal. MurKKKa. Maybe News should interview surviving gun victims as they do disgruntled GQP trumpers in local diners about how their lives are ruined by Dems.
