Two people are dead and three others are hurt from a shooting at a Houston flea market, where thousands of people were shopping on a busy Sunday, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. The shooting appeared to stem from an altercation between five men, according to the sheriff's office.

Two died on scene and three men were hospitalized in critical condition, the sheriff's office said. No innocent bystanders were hurt, authorities said. Two possible suspects were detained at the scene and a third possible suspect was taken to a hospital, according to the sheriff's office.

At least two pistols were recovered, authorities said.

Looking at the pictures, I realize I've been to that, um, "flea market." Maybe 5, 8 miles from where I live. Yeah, I guess it's a flea market. But it's also a great source for locally grown non-HEB/Kroger/Safeway/TOPs/IPA/Von's/Ralphs/Higgledy/etc. vegetables.

Susan Cotter, major of patrol for the county, told reporters during a press conference that the shooting began shortly after 1 p.m. within the flea market as a result of an altercation that turned into a gun battle between two groups of Hispanic men in their 20s.

Two suspects were arrested at the scene with another among the three people transported to local hospitals, she said. A total of five people were shot.

"It's very tragic that this happened because... there's a lot of people up and down Airline here just trying to come out and enjoy the flea market," she said. "So, it's very tragic."

this what happens when you have an "armed society". You have a shoot out society. Arguments that might have led to fist fights instead quickly lead to shoot outs and people die over petty arguments.
