Conservative MP arrested on suspicion of rape

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a man was in custody over allegations dating back to between 2002 and 2009.
The Conservative Party said he had been asked by the chief whip not to attend Parliament while an investigation is ongoing.

A Met Police spokesman would not confirm the identity of the man or if he was an MP, but published a statement, saying: "In January 2020, the Met received a report relating to alleged sexual offences having been committed between 2002 and 2009.

He added: "A man... was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in public office."

That's a big time frame, indicating ongoing abuse, and "position of trust" narrows the number of people who could be the victim. That also means his name almost certainly won't come out until definite charges are brought, to protect the victim's identity. With charges, I think they won't be able to keep it unknown.

So why are Matt Gaetz and MTG still allowed in D.C.?
I'm sure there are many others. I remember a list on a website about shrubs no show at the TX National Guard of all the congresspeople who were accused of things, unbelievably extensive. It also compared parties based on who had served in the military. Yeah its true, the republicans are chicken-hawks, few have any military service.
