ISIS Plotting To Assassinate George W. Bush In Dallas
Source: Forbes, MSN
The FBI used two confidential informants and surveillance of the alleged plotters WhatsApp account to reveal plans to smuggle assassins into the U.S. to murder the former president, according to a search warrant application discovered by Forbes.
An alleged ISIS operative in the U.S. was plotting to kill George W. Bush, going so far as to travel to Dallas in November to take video around the former presidents home and recruiting help from a team of compatriots he hoped to smuggle into the country over the Mexican border, according to an FBI search-warrant application filed March 23 and unsealed this week in the Southern District of Ohio.

The case shows how federal investigators continue to monitor threats from ISIS even as the group has been severely weakened by American intelligence and military operations in recent years. It also shows how the FBI, despite its claims of being prevented from investigating major crimes because of Meta and other tech providers use of encryption, has been able to work around WhatsApp security by using old-school policing with sourcing of informants and tracking the metadata they can get from the messaging company.
The alleged plot organizer had been in the U.S. since 2020 and had an asylum application pending, according to the FBIs search-warrant application. Federal agents used two different confidential sources to investigate the plot, one who claimed to offer assistance obtaining false immigration and identification documents, the second a purported customer of the alleged people smuggler, who was willing to pay thousands of dollars to bring his family into the country.

If ISIS really knew what was going on in this country, wouldn't they have gone after Dick Cheney?
However, if you read the story, they had a number of targets with specific objectives in mind.

My brothers and male cousins are well educated successful professionals and they dearly loved a good bar fight in their younger and more foolish years.
Ok I am 100% certain about part of why your old Irish girl friend was mad.
It is one thing for a guy to screw up. We get that. Fairly normal situation.
But then he is totally clueless about it. Even when you explain it several times.
Grrr...

So we figure we have been holding grudges for at least 15,000 years.

Gods, but I loved them! The one Polish uncle and I would munch pieroshki, drink slivovitz and reminisce about our ancestral Szeklyi and Hussars terrorizing central Europe.

Of course with the Irish there is a sentimentality as well, so there will be tears and acknowledgment of the beloved departed. We know that they are with us at the reunion.
That would be fun to sit with you and the Polish uncle!

(35,706 posts)Here's a little story:
About a month or so ago I was at my public library, which weeds out the stacks pretty regularly. They put a sign out: "free books." I always stop to look because I more often than not find kids' books about nature, gardening, nutrition, etc., which I take and give to my little gardeners at our weekly garden sessions. That's what I do for a living now--teach children how to garden and I do this at our public schools, where we've obtained enough grant funding to put in raised beds, greenhouses, garden sheds, etc.
So I stopped at the "free" stack and picked up a book and absentmindedly thumbed through it. Did't look at the cover--just flipped through the pages.
I started getting creepy vibes from the pictures, which were portraits of people. They were so disturbing that I immediately concluded they must be portraits done by the criminally insane or at the very least someone who was in a very disturbed state of mind. I couldn't put the book down fast enough. As I put it down, I saw whose book it was:
I was going to post this pic here but hadn't gotten around to it. Now seems like an appropriate time.
