'What are we doing?': Sen. Chris Murphy gives emotional speech on Texas elementary school shooting

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) delivered an emotional speech on the Senate floor Tuesday in response to the deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas.

"What are we doing?" Murphy asked lawmakers in response to the shooting that left 14 students and one teacher dead at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, a mass killing that comes less than two weeks after an 18-year-old gunman shot and killed 10 people in a hate-fueled rampage at a grocery store in Buffalo.

"Just days after a shooter walked into a grocery store to gun down African-American patrons, we have another Sandy Hook on our hands," Murphy said. "Our kids are living in fear every single time they set foot in the classroom because they think they're going to be next. What are we doing?"

Murphy then asked his fellow lawmakers why they spend the time running for a Senate seat if they plan to do nothing about school shootings.
