14 People Shot, 3 Dead, in Mass Shooting on South Street (Philadelphia)
Source: KYW
An officer fired his gun at one of the shooters, Philadelphia Police Inspector D. F. Pace said. It is not known if the suspect was struck, however they did drop their gun and flee.
The officer was "within 10 to 15 yards of the shooter, watching this person shoot into the crowd" when he decided to engage, Pace said.
At least 14 people were struck by the barrage of gunfire, police said. Three of them, two men and a woman, were shot multiple times and died at the hospital.

(15,286 posts)Also a popular weekend venue with plenty of bars, entertainment and crowds. People get drunk or there's a beef or worse a drunken beef and out come the guns. Police are also on patrol and alert there every weekend. The violence seems to be a function of the number of people in a relatively small area.

(32,645 posts)Everywhere you go, every stranger you talk to, or see on the street could be carrying a gun. There's no way to know what will get them angry and make them decide to start shooting. But this will continue happening because we're all living in NRA-Land now.

(63,912 posts)I would hope Joe Biden could take it on. Now I don't know if he can. He does mean well and I am sure he would put all of his strength behind any effort to stop the gun lobby in Washington. That just is not happening.
