Trump Tried to Contact Jan. 6 Witness, Liz Cheney Reveals

Source: The Daily Beast

Former President Donald Trump tried to call a witness set to appear before the House Jan. 6 Committee, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) revealed in a bombshell statement at the end of Tuesday’s hearing.

Trump allegedly called the witness, whose identity has not been revealed, following the committee’s last hearing, Cheney said. The witness did not pick up Trump’s call, instead referring it to their lawyer, who referred it to the committee. The incident has been referred to the Department of Justice, Cheney added.

“We will take any effort to influence witness testimony very seriously,” Cheney said.

This is a developing story.

You're looking for someone who could recognize Twittler's number and choose to not answer it, probably someone with that number in their Contacts. So, a witness on the list we haven't heard from yet, and who is super close to Twittler.

Also, I'll put money on a voice mail. Cheney said "declined to answer or respond to." She is very careful in what she says, and there is not a lot of reason to use this language unless there was a message (voice or text) to respond to with a callback.

I took it to mean he wanted the committee to call a specific witness he wanted them to hear from.

Now I see he called someone who was already scheduled to testify.

And guess what? Even if he did pardon himself, it wouldn't protect him now......

I wish the witness would have taken the call from Trump so he/she could testify to what Trump said. Unfortunately, when it comes to criminality, I don't see how DOJ can make a case based only on an attempt by Trump to contact a witness.

a cynical legal strategy on the part of the Orange Ruski. If he now commits some crimes and is charged he may try to get a deal with DOJ where he pleads guilty to these lesser crimes as long as they don't charge him for the coup. He will probably also agree to testify against Flynn, Powell, Ghouliani, Meadows and Stone.

Witness tampering is an easy dunk for the DOJ.
They also know that the American public knows. So there is DOJ integrity to live up to.

The reason I say you can't say it will be ignored is that the DOJ's done a shitton of work already.

Since Jan 6 2021:
https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/capitol-breach-cases
https://seditiontracker.com/suspects/by_status

Six months ago:
https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/leader-oath-keepers-and-10-other-individuals-indicted-federal-court-seditious-conspiracy-and

Six days ago:

So you make a baseless claim. Too many people around here mistake pessimism for wisdom and judgment.
