'Appalled' 9-11 survivors' families protest Trumps's LIV Golf due to Saudi ties

9/11 families are speaking out about the upcoming Saudi LIV Golf Tournament scheduled for this weekend at Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey. The 4-day tournament features 48 professional golfers competing for $25 million dollars of prize money provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan explained why the upcoming Trump sponsored tournament is making so many angry.

Trump telling the Wall Street Journal that he doesn’t know much about the 9/11 families or their strong feelings is completely untrue according to one victim’s family member.

Brett Eaglson, a founder of the group 9/11 Justice, whose father died in the Twin Towers, was contacted by a Trump aid Saturday. Many family members of the survivors had reached out to Trump with their concerns about him hosting the Saudi’s for a golf tournament at his club. According to Eaglson, during the call the aid explained how much the former president cares about 9/11 family members. It was to his great surprise when several days later Trump was unable to comment on the victims’ concerns.

As for the planned protests at Bedminster this weekend, families of 9/11 victims began gathering on Monday near the club, criticizing the players, former President Trump, and pointing out that 15 of the 19 hijackers responsible for 9/11 were Saudi citizens. One family member Terry Strada who lost her husband, Tom, on 9/11 told CBS2's Jenna DeAngelis

11. I don't think so, all the players who signed with LIV were kicked out from the PGA and Euro

leagues. The Golf Channel does not have a contract with them, and I don't know of any network in the USA that does.

Another thing is that 98% of the golfers who signed with LIV are players who were not doing very well in the PGA or the Euro tours, they are past their time, and I have to think their skills will continue to go down the hill because they have no incentive to practice or even do well, there are no cuts and everyone gets paid for playing, plus the outrageous amounts they got paid for signing.

I believe Phil Michelson got $200 million, same with Dustin Johnson, and close to that was Sergio Garcia, but 98% of them are on the decline, I don't know many people who are interested in watching them play. Its a mediocre league.

Today was a celebrity round, 2 pros and 2 amateurs per group. Apparently the amateurs were playing some sort of scramble instead of stroke play. Trump played from the senior tees, he is a year older than me but I still haven't moved up.

I guess Trump hit a drive into a sand trap and his caddy scooped it out. Trump never putted on one hole.

I am learning who the fascist golfers are, who to root against.

As far as protesters, today's round was closed to the public, can't have the public witnessing how Trump cheats. I play with an 89 year old and we don't touch the ball until it's on the green.

I guess the new league doesn't need spectators with the Saudis footing the bill.

He is so fat he has to swing flat, around his belly. My 89 year old golfing buddy can hit it 200 yards on occasion, I doubt Trump can hit it over 150 yards.
