Biden says it's time for Republican 'soul searching'

Source: LA Times

ABOARD AIR FORCE TWO — Vice President Joe Biden said he and President Obama are “anxious to get moving” on urgent issues, such as the looming fiscal cliff, while suggesting that the likelihood of an accord on taxes and spending may depend on how Republicans respond to Tuesday’s election results.

“I hope there's going to be some real soul-searching [by] the Republican Party about what they're willing to cooperate on,” Biden said Wednesday.

Biden's comments aboard Air Force Two came as he returned home to Delaware after spending election night in Chicago. He said that he understands that it’s “going to take some time” for Republicans to find their course after the fallout of the election, in which the president secured a second term and Democrats expanded their majority in the Senate, even as Republicans maintained control of the House.

“We’re going to have to compromise too. It’s not like we’re going to go in and say, ‘This is our deal, take it or leave it,’ ” he said.

Beyond fiscal issues, Biden listed immigration reform as an area he and the president are eager to move forward on. He said the election results should be a “wake-up call for a lot of my Republican colleagues,” given Obama’s strong performance among Latinos.

it's bound to be small and rather withered, so they might miss it over the first few passes. I'd recommend they wash it off before putting it back in.

of course, they might need to borrow some money to get it back off Lemmy down at the pawn shop.

*** POP *** goes their bubble

Said they were totally blindsided by the drubbing the GOP took.

Believed in the ensuing RR landslide Rasmussen Polling & Fox were predicting.

Never heard of Nate Silver the statistician or Darrel Issa, their congressional attack dog from CA.

Listen to GOP talk radio and watch Faux Noise exclusively. Love Dennis Miller show the best.

In complete denial mode right now, eyes to the floor.

in the middle of the night with excruciating pain in your hands? If you do, then it's time
to be tested for it and get it fixed. I'm right handed and sure enough it was worse
in my right hand. Also, if it's true carpal tunnel, there's not too much you can take for pain, as nothing seems to touch NERVE pain. They tried one med, but I was allergic to it. Threw me into respiratory duress. To top it off, I have horrible arthritis in my right thumb. I'm a mess, but recuperating from the surgery. Just have to keep-on-keeping-on. Nice to meet you Skittles...

I'm a night worker living in an apartment complex so everything wakes me up - my fingers hurt because I have no cartilage in the end joints (arthritis) - and my wrists ache - maybe due to carpal. I hear you about medicine - even though I have swollen finger joints I cannot even take Alleve because it gives me the trots.

when they could have reached out to help their constituents who are in dire need. With the repukes, I guess politics always comes first and sympathy, empathy, and concern are alien (and negative) concepts, indeed.

... Republicans have to wake up to this fact.

But their party's been steering hard right and radical fundamentalist since Ralph Reed and his Christian Coalition started hijacking th party. There's no way for a normal human being to win their nomination.

But, I'd bet their response will be to pull the wheel even harder to the right. In 2016, Ryan will be the "moderate" primary candidate.

The GOP is dancing to the tune of the Rightwing media which has never been reluctant to challenge Republicans who do not toe their line. That media is destroying the GOP more than the GOP imploding.

Actually, they might be able to do something about that. GOP pols and staff needs to boycott FNC.

If he's just giving the press a soundbite, okay.

But if he thinks the party of rape, god, and guns will ever consider changing their ways...

If he thinks they really have a working conscience, then he's not very bright.
