U.S. Rep. Walorski one of 4 killed in northern Indiana crash

WAKARUSA, Ind. (WISH) — U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, an Indiana Republican, died in a crash Wednesday afternoon, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The South Bend native has served Indiana in Congress since 2013.

The other two who died in the crash were a House district director, Zachery Potts, 27, of Mishawaka, and Walorski’s communications director Emma Thomson, 28, of Washington, D.C.

Walorski died two weeks ahead of her 59th birthday.

God help me, I had really no reaction when I heard, but then I’ve sorta gotten my bellyful of Indiana Republicans at all levels lately.

I do feel sorry, though, for those staffers and the other driver.

Longtime GOP Rep. Jackie Walorski of Indiana was killed in a Wednesday afternoon car accident, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy confirmed.

“Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. We will have no further comment at this time,” her office said.

The two others in the vehicle with Walorski, her communications director Emma Thomson, 28, and district director Zachary Potts, 27, were also killed, along with the driver of the other car, CBS News and local outlet ABC 57 reported.



...........................The other vehicle was traveling northbound when it crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit the Walorski’s southbound SUV head-on, according to CBS News.

You are correct.

I really doubt one would be called now, given that it’s under 100 days to the midterms, but this state likes to waste money and has done stranger things, so who knows. I have no idea who could run for that seat. Maybe somebody in the General Assembly?

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office has released new information in the crash that killed US Rep. Jackie Walorski and three others. They said the preliminary information released was incorrect.
After reviewing evidence at the scene, eyewitness and video evidence, they learned the initial information they provided was not correct.

Deputies say evidence confirms Edith Schmucker's Buick LaSabre was southbound on SR 19 south of SR 119 and the Toyota RAV4 driven by Zachery Potts was northbound.

Initial reports said Schumcker was traveling northbound and the Potts was traveling southbound.

Deputies said the RAV4 crossed the centerline for reasons that are uknown and the two vehicles collided.
