Lawyers representing families of Sandy Hook massacre victims who are suing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones said they received child pornography in documents they were sent by the Infowars founder, according to court papers filed Monday in Connecticut.
Consultants working with the lawyers discovered the images in the documents that were requested during a court hearing in April, the filing states. A lawyer representing the families immediately alerted the FBI, according to the filing.
The FBI advised counsel that its review located numerous additional illegal images, which had apparently been sent to Infowars email address, the filing says.
During a segment on Infowars last week, Jones lawyer Norm Pattis said the FBI cleared Jones after an inquiry found there was no suggestion that anyone here wanted that material, ever looked at it or even knew about it.

(15,556 posts)The lawyer could have claimed privilege and tried to claw back his "mistake". He could have gone to court to get an order preventing the release of the info. I'm a lawyer and while it is rare, it happens. Sometimes the lawyer could just request they not be released.
crickets.
I'm wondering if you are right.
Maybe the lawyer is no longer getting paid and dumping on Alex? Alex says he's bankrupt.

(72,180 posts)But I seem to remember reading that these documents had been ordered by the judge to be turned over during discovery, and Jones's lawyer forgot, or refused, or something. Now he says they were sent "accidentally". The possibility that they were sent accidentally doesn't negate the judge's order for them to be turned over in the first place, does it?

I hate the guy as much as anyone but some of the reactions are not in line with the facts reported in the article.
On edit: it reads as though the material was attached to emails SENT to infowars email addresses. Those emails may have been flagged as spam and sent in a data dump to the lawyers - who can run them through a filter or open them using software that gives the data without infecting a computer.

This is perhaps the most vile crime one can be charged with, and even if cleared, the stigma is still there, whether or not one is innocent.
I'm certainly not a fan of this bloated POS, but c'mon folks, let's be accurate.
