Republican Senator Chuck Grassley (IA) tweeted on Sunday during the debate over a component in the Inflation Reduction Act that would put a cap on the cost of insulin to $35.
In the United States, insulin costs over $98 per unit, whereas the rest of the world it costs less than $10. The medication keeps many people alive.
But when Grassley took to Twitter he said that he voted to support insulin and that it was Democrats who eliminated it from the bill...........................

Senate fails to get 60 votes to include insulin cap in Inflation Reduction Act. It will now be removed from the bill. All 50 Democrats voted for inclusion along with 7 Republicans (Cassidy, Collins, Hawley, Hyde-Smith, Kennedy, Murkowski, Sullivan).

(47,586 posts)He is basically saying his constituents are so stupid, he can say anything and they'll believe him.
Guy, along with TFFG and virtually all republicans with very few notable exceptions like liz Cheney, couldnt tell the truth if their life depended on it. They are all the model of the conning, Lying and cheating car salespeople ( not all car sales people operate that way, just the vast majority do).

(6,823 posts)even if he did vote for it, it failed because it did not get two thirds in the vote for giving the benefit to those under 65.
In the vote for giving it to those on Medicare, over 65, it succeeded because it only needed majority due to reconciliation.
So the Democrats did not vote it down in either instance, but Grassley only voted for it for those over 65? Correct? No he didn't because that was a tie vote broken by Kamala Harris, so all Repubs had voted against that
I'm going back to look at that voting list again. It was only one of two votes.
Oh so someone here posted a truncated list. I give up trying to understand.
But I think Grassley had to vote against it in both instances. So yes HE LIES, BLATANTLY.

(1,525 posts)Republicans do this all the time. Vote down measures that would positively impact their constituents and then lie about it.
This is the entire Republican schtick. Don't tell the voters what you actually are going to do because if word got out that Republicans are against anything that would help the average person then they might lose even more elections.
We're saddled with a minority government due to extreme gerrymandering.
The next step is make citizen's votes superfluous.
Republicans find anything that resembles a democracy in which they don't have complete power to be very inconvenient.
