51-year-old man charged with murdering 2 Muslim men in Albuquerque; additional charges possible
Source: CBS News
A man has been detained and charged with murdering two Muslim men, Albuquerque police announced Tuesday. Four Muslim men have been killed in the city since November, and authorities believe the suspect may eventually be charged in the other two murders.
Muhammed Syed, 51, was identified as the "primary suspect in the recent murders of Muslim men," police said Tuesday, and charged with murdering Aftab Hussein on July 26, and Muhammad Afzaal Hussian on Aug. 1. Detectives connected the two cases using bullet casings found at the two scenes.
They are still investigating Syed's possible involvement in the murders of Naeem Hussain on Aug. 5 and Mohammed Zaher Ahmadi on Nov. 7. A tip from the public led authorities to Syed. When they went to search his Albuquerque home, they say he fled in a Volkswagen Jetta, which authorities had already told the public they were looking for in connection to the murders.
They eventually took Syed into custody near Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Authorities also searched his house, where they say they found multiple firearms, including the one believed to have been used in the two murders he has been charged for. Syed appears to have known his victims, police and the FBI said. Police Chief Harold Medina first shared the news of an arrest on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

(9,983 posts)to say the least. I was sure it was a MAGAT. So perhaps it is some kind of internecine dispute. The men killed were Shi's Muslims. Is this guy a Sunni? Or is it a family thing? Curiouser and curiouser.

(45,457 posts)so it's some sort of personal Sunni-Shia conflict.

One of my Shia friends here in DC had to dump her boyfriend because he's a Sunni. Apparently that was important to her parents. Brown on brown conflict is common and pretty stupid.

(51,574 posts)Just like Europeans who brought their prejudices to the New World, so too did other immigrants. In California's tech centers, which employ a lot of immigrants from India, there is discrimination by higher caste Indians against lower caste Indians at the work site, like there is in India. https://slate.com/technology/2022/07/caste-silicon-valley-thenmozhi-soundararajan.html
We must be ever vigilant to enforce our civil rights laws, no matter who is the victim, nor who is the perpetrator.

(49,007 posts)When you say "brown on brown conflict" is common, do you have statistics or are you making it up?
Can you show it is more or less common than white on white conflict, so that we should call it common?
We would expect it to be as "common" as white on white conflict because, brown people are human.
What's with this "brown on brown conflict" idea? Have you ever discussed white on white conflict as "white on white"? Do you realize that right wingers like magats frequently talk about "black on black" conflict as a racist way to deflect discussions?
Is "brown on brown conflict" more or less "stupid" than white on white conflict?

My white and black coworkers are constantly trying to get me to date Muslims and Hindus and Sikhs. I'm Christian. And they constantly tell me I'm too brown to be Christian. It's one of many reasons why my grandparents immigrated to America.

(45,457 posts)so he sounds like a real POS. It was some Sunni-Shia personal conflict where he didn't like who his daughter married.
