White House says Biden was not briefed on Mar-A-Lago FBI raid: 'We do not interfere'

White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre on Sunday said that the White House was not briefed about the FBI search of former President Donald Trump's property in Mar-a-Lago or the status of the ongoing investigation conducted by the Department of Justice.

"We do not interfere. We do not get briefed. We do not get involved," Jean-Pierre told Jonathan Karl on ABC's "This Week."

She added: "We have learned about all of this the same way the American people have learned about this, through public reports, through your reporting, and every other reporter who has talked about this, that is how we learned about what is happening."

Jean-Pierre also responded to claims that the DOJ investigation of Trump is political by stating that the department acts on its own.

Well, at least in a normal administration. During the Trump years, the DOJ served as the then president's personal lawyer. I'm glad Biden has gone out of his way to demonstrate the distance between him and the Attorney General. Americans need that reminder.

That special operation on FOREIGN grounds needed the explicit approval of the Commander-in-Chief.

Such approval IS NOT required in the DoJ-FBI's INTERNAL operations.

But for US citizens, the FBI is allowed to keep the President in the dark about National Security operations and matters.

That doesn't make me feel better.

I hope that Biden corrects them immediately and puts on the carpet whoever decided to cut President Biden out.

... this is the tradition for the DOJ, as a quasi independent agency. Just like the Fed. The Fed doesn't brief the president on interest rate actions. The president finds out like we all do.

I, for one, want the administration of justice to independent, professional and non-partisan.

It's great when the FBI is on our side though. But I think it's fool hardy to expect that to be a permanent condition.

It's my personal opinion, the President should never be kept in the dark about National Security.

That's how 9/11s happen. That's why MLK was harassed.

Personally, I don't think is comparable to an interest rate change. The Fed is TRULY independent. The FBI ultimately reports to the President. The Fed doesn't.
