Pennsylvania man arrested for threatening to "slaughter" FBI
Source: Axios
A Pennsylvania man has been arrested and charged with threatening the FBI after the agency's Mar-a-Lago search, allegedly posting on the right-wing social media platform Gab that all FBI employees deserve to die.
Why it matters: The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have warned that threats against law enforcement officials have spiked since the FBI retrieved classified material from former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
Driving the news: Adam Bies, 46, is charged with influencing, impeding or retaliating against a federal law enforcement official, according to an FBI affidavit.
* "My only goal is to kill more of them before I drop," Bies allegedly wrote on Gab, adding that he would "slaughter" them.
* He compared the FBI to the Nazi SS paramilitary group as well as the Soviet-era KGB, the affidavit states.
* "Ill shoot an SS officer in the head just as quick as Id shoot a KGB officer in the head," he allegedly said in one post. "Police state scum are police state scum. Period."

(18,646 posts)SUCH LANGUAGE! I lost over 100 followers today because I think the FBI are a bunch of scumbag, child molesting faggots who deserve to be shot on sight, one said. Good riddance assholes. Go hang out where you belong, with the fucking Chamber of Commerce Mitch McConnell child molesting RINO scumbags instead. Hopefully YOUR kids will be on the menu next at whatever new hellhole has replaced Epstein Island.

(111,267 posts)because most large gatherings had all sorts of police presence. Spotting them and pointing them out was as far as we went. We never planned to murder them. Shoot, we never even bothered to eject them from whatever was going on. We just needed to know who they were so we could avoid them when anything important was under discussion.
I can't wrap my head around just how wigged out these right wing males are. They are so twisted up with fear and hate that most of them must be a having an incredibly hard time functioning at even a minimal, show up for work and go home and drink into a stupor, level of competence. They are so freaked out it's hard to think they can manage earning any sort of a paycheck or dealing with family. The amount of physical and emotional energy it takes to carry that kind of impotent rage is staggering.
Eventually, they've got to start burning out. The apathy is likely to look worse than the rage.

(111,267 posts)There was a hell of a lot of juvenile bullshit in them, too. We also made some colossally boneheaded choices, those were peak drug experimentation years and a few of us didn't live through them.
No, what is new is the degree of terror feeding rage feeding more terror and all of it orchestrated and well funded at the top.
They are going to start to burn out emotionally. What gets left behind is not going to be pretty.

(3,579 posts)Adam has always had a strong libertarian/anti-government streak that runs deep through him, and he really doesn't get along with a lot of people. Had he joined a militia, which I doubt he would have, he would have gotten kicked out for his lack of playing by their rules and for his anti-authoritarianism. In Adam's reasoning (such as it is), the FBI going through Mar-a-Lago was extreme government overreach and a bridge too far; I strongly doubt he has any affection or loyalty to Trump.

(63,213 posts)I trust your assessment, and it's interesting to think that he might be acting out of misguided principles rather than out of Trump loyalty.

(3,579 posts)We're hoping he gets the help he needs, because he's been on a downward spiral for gawd knows how long. He went off the grid a few years back, and he wasn't exactly easy to reach. And if you did reach him, there's a good chance you would've caught him on a bad day.
If you remove his anger issues, of which there are many, this guy is so damn talented in photography, page design, and web design. His considerable skills saw him hired by several major ad agencies and businesses in and around Pittsburgh. He and I shared an interest in mountain biking, and a lot of people at our old place of employment referred to him as "Efilroft Jr." because we enjoyed tweaking the Frank Burns types in management. His problem, however, was seeing Frank Burns types everywhere, and he burned a lot of bridges throughout his career and personal life.
The more I read about this story, the more I'm amazed he was taken alive, and I'm grateful he was stopped before he could follow through on some lone wolf attack.

(3,579 posts)Despite Adam's ugly words, he has a talent for showing how beautiful the world is.
That said, I'm so glad Adam was caught before he could make everybody's situation worse, and those of us who knew him from work are looking at his arrest as perhaps the last, best chance he has to make a course correction, even if he receives a 20-year sentence. I'm not sure if Adam will receive any mental health help while incarcerated, but he clearly needs it.

(3,579 posts)Almost overnight, Adam went from being an Occupy Wall Street/punish the bankers type of person to believing that Obama had a fake birth certificate. If W's DOJ showed up at the home of a former Democratic president, his call for violence probably would've been the same as what got him into trouble today. While living apart from society, Adam stared into the abyss, and it stared back into him. And I'm afraid he liked that.

(3,579 posts)The only child of Adam's that I really know about (and know very little about) is the one son born almost 21 years ago, when Adam was fired for being at the hospital when the kid was born. Unless people who knew him from where he grew up in New York (Rochester area, if I recall correctly) or where he attended post-secondary schooling can say otherwise, the firing is when Adam started walking down a long, dark road. I sure hope he wasn't abusive to his kid or kids, but I truly have to proclaim ignorance in this particular matter.

(61,622 posts)The posts I've read suggest that he is deeply troubled and paranoid. He posted about hiking in rugged terrain with his 12 year old son, talked about what a good shot the kid is, the weapons he has, etc. He talked about how he and his kid are ready for the coming war and the liberals aren't, etc etc.
