Florida Primary Updates: Charlie Crist will face Gov. Ron DeSantis in November

U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist defeated Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in their battle for the Democratic nomination for Florida’s governor, the Associated Press reported.

With 77% of the expected vote counted, the Associated Press reported at 8 p.m. that Crist had 60.2% of the vote to 35.1% for Fried.

In selecting Crist, Florida Democrats sided with a candidate backed by many in the party’s establishment who viewed him as the safest choice. The 66-year-old has already served one term as governor, running as a Republican at the time before gravitating toward Democrats. His moderate stances could appeal to voters in Florida’s teeming suburbs as Democrats seek to reverse a losing pattern in a state that was once seen as a perennial political battleground.

My attempt to donate to Charlie on ActBlue gave me a notice that says "Charlie Crist is no longer accepting donations."

I went to Charlie's official campaign website. There's a box that says, "IMPORTANT NOTICE Clicking "Donate" statewide will direct you to a Friends of Charlie Crist donation page."

9. Crist is all over Florida, remembered as a good governor who should mop up

DeSantis, the anti-woke trump wannabe. Vets, women, elders and Black voters are getting out the vote. We need a Democrat whose record can't erase Floridians' memory. Charlie Crist is that man.

12. I remember Charlie as a decent enough governor

My dad didn't like him because the mostly GOP state lege stymied him on the repeal of Florida's intangibles tax, a heavy handed tax that clobbered old folks with investments. Charlie was just never loony enough for them.

I just hope enough people are upset by Gov Death Sentence's Batista dictatorship act to kick him out in favor of good old reliable, boring Charlie.

Maybe Disney will get into the act and shift some of their considerable resources into ousting De Satan.

Really depressing when "didn't suck" is the best possible option.
