(111,267 posts)and Chechnya is being set adrift since Russia's a little preoccupied elsewhere. Kadyrov undoubtedly knows some shit is about to rain down and that Putin and Russian troops won't help him to crush people who object to what's going on.
In any case, if there is a positive regime change there, expect the 'stans to get restless.

He stood out as being proud of all the pain and misery he and his countrymen inflict on any and all LGBT people living in Chechnya. He smiled as he described finding and killing them.
His own Ukrainian assassin team seem to be getting killed by Ukraine forces, so maybe Rammy is having thoughts of being the target of an assassins bullet. With any luck, it will be a gay assassin for that touch of Karma.
Here's some good reporting from inside Chechnya by ABC News and James Longman. This was produced before the second invasion of Ukraine.
In Chechnya, LGBT people share their stories of being abducted and tortured, often hiding their sexuality from their own family. The police say the idea that gay people exist in Chechnya is an insult. Nightline gained rare access to a Chechen prison with the republics head of police, General Apti Alaudinov. ABC News James Longman revealed to Alaudinov that he is gay while at the prison.
And let us never forget Zelim Bakaev. We'll likely never be able to confirm what happened to him.

(16,423 posts)About 1 month into the war, Putin put Kadyrov in charge of the war. Kadyrov immediately went to social media to show how easyit is to defeat the Ukrainians:
Kadyrov posted a photo of himself with a conquered supply-truck of the ukrainian army. The truck surely had the insignia of the ukrainian armed forces... except it was absolutely pristine with no dent and no speck of dirt on it... and Kadyrov's mansion was in the background.
