House Jan. 6 Panel Tentatively Reschedules Hearing for Next Week

The House committee investigating last year’s attack on the US Capitol has tentatively rescheduled its next public hearing for Oct. 13, a person familiar with the planning said, following last week’s abrupt postponement as Hurricane Ian made its way toward Florida.

The hearing would be the panel’s first public session on the events of Jan. 6, 2021, since July 21.

A committee spokesman declined to confirm the rescheduled date, which is subject to change. The person familiar with the planning asked not to be identified disclosing internal deliberations of the committee.

No witnesses are expected to appear in-person. But all nine panel members are likely to make presentations and never-before seen footage of depositions and interviews is to be shown, along with other material, Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, said last week.
