U.S. judge temporarily blocks parts of New York's new gun law

Source: Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) -A federal judge in New York on Thursday temporarily blocked parts of the state's new gun law to allow the Gun Owners of America, an advocacy group, to pursue a lawsuit challenging the legislation.

The law came into effect on Sept. 1, creating new requirements for obtaining a license, including submitting social media accounts for review, and creating a long list of public and private places where having a gun became a felony crime, even for license holders.

Lawmakers in New York's Democratic-controlled legislature had passed the law during an emergency session in July after the U.S. Supreme Court found the state's licensing regime for firearms to be unconstitutional following a challenge by the New York affiliate of the National Rifle Association, a powerful gun-owners' rights group.

Chief Judge Glenn Suddaby of the U.S. District Court in Syracuse agreed to issue the order at the request of six New York residents who are members of Gun Owners of America, which competes with the National Rifle Association in political influence.

so the gun crazies can be allowed to stockpile weapons for their divil war to overturn the government. We have been living in crazy land, and it keeps getting worse because we have a Supreme Court and several federal courts enabling crazy land.

that arms itself, doesn't want pay or benefits, and doesn't care about anything except murdering unarmed people. And the zealots and despots who want to rule are making sure there are no barriers to killing off as many people as possible, and convincing the rest to shelter in place.

Power mad is just another word for crazy.

I wouldn't get out at all anymore. Who wants to walk around a bunch of morons with concealed weapons. I wouldn't trust them with a garden hose much less a gun.

Last time I looked at FBI statistics, it'd pretty much zero for me.

Your chances of being in a mass shooting are even slimmer.

Statistically you should be more afraid every time they get in the car since cars kill about twice as many people as murder with firearms

....as accidental fall & accidental poisoning deaths both exceed auto deaths and way exceed firearms homicides, and I assume mostly happen in and around the home.

Motor vehicle traffic deaths
Number of deaths: 40,698

Unintentional fall deaths
Number of deaths: 42,114

Unintentional poisoning deaths
Number of deaths: 87,404
