He might be labelled a loser if he stays and who wants that? Plus, there is prestige in heading up a university.

call themselves. "Nutballs" sounds a bit juvenile, when the Ricketts are a formidable influence through their banking, sports and Ameritrade money.

This Ricketts has made headway in a Republican farm state.

This Ricketts has turned the baseball neighborhood of Wrigley Field into Disneyland for adults in blue Chicago, then farms out profits to red state politicos. This family only has one Democrat in it.

this family isn't among them.

Two good examples of wealthy nutballs are David and Leila Centner of Miami.
They were Trump's guests at the Ellipse, friends of RFK, Jr., have an academy in Miami, called covid a hoax, called for maskless freedom. They started the conspiracy that merely being around other vaccinated people can cause reproductive problems in women. They also produced a video that the United States government seeks to harm ethnic minorities through COVID-19 vaccines, and it ended up being an anti-vaxxer film.

Here's a bigger list of wealthy donors for trumpcult. It's over a year old, and maybe some have given up on him, but they do still donate to Congressional Republicans, and more than a few are nutballs. Nothing worse than nutballs with money. The Mercers are a good example.

By someone on the MAGAT lunatic fringe, so he is jumping out now to secure a well paying job. I suppose it's better than a lobbying gig.

Can the governor simply appoint someone to replace Sasse until the next election in 2023 since I assume it’s too late to get someone on the ballot for this November?

I’m sure Ricketts will appoint a MAGA nut for the job.

It's not so much that he's quitting the Senate. He found a better way to spend his time, AND make use of his 5 post-graduate degrees. Can anyone blame the guy? I can't - he seems like a sensible guy and he's tired of dealing with Repuke dickheads.

Good luck in your new position, Ben Sasse. There's a good chance you'll hate living in Florida, but no job is perfect.

Sasse would follow in the footsteps of Mitch Daniels (current Purdue University president, former US Representative/Governor of Indiana), Kent Hance (former US Representative from Texas, later chancellor of the Texas Tech University system), Paul Trible (former US Rep/Senator from Virginia, now president of Christopher Newport University), and Heather Wilson (former US Rep. from New Mexico, now president of the U of Texas El Paso and formerly at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology).
