2 killed, 6 injured in series of stabbings outside Strip casino

Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal

Two people were killed and six others were injured in a series of stabbings in front of a Strip casino Thursday.

Police received reports of the stabbing on the 3100 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South just after 11:40 a.m., according to Metropolitan Police Department Deputy Chief James LaRochelle.

LaRochelle said a man started stabbing people, with no altercation beforehand, while running through sidewalks on the Las Vegas Strip.

Video from the area showed the man in his early 30s running down Las Vegas Boulevard toward Sands Boulevard after, LaRochelle said in a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Unfortunately. I live in Vegas and the crime is terrible. Drugs, mental illness, and poverty has gotten worse in the 6 yrs I’ve been here. I would move back to CA if the housing market were better.

...in her rural community, there's a guy who's collecting guns and threatening to "burn down the town" (possibly collecting gasoline), but who can't be held in jail or for medical evaluation because of State legislation loosening bail requirements. I've discussed this with Attorney General Tish James and she says Albany is unwilling to reconsider bail rules. And people wonder why Republicans get traction with "soft on crime" accusations.

We have a real violence problem in this country.

And, of course, the right is making pro-gun political hay out of it already.

It’s all very disheartening.
